To hate my face in a selfie

When I take a selfie in my selfie camera, face on and especially straight faced, I look awful! Its like my face is lopsided, one brow looks higher, one eye looks lazy! In the mirror I don't notice it and i assume my face is pretty symmetrical. Can anyone else relate to this?

I had to take my 1st selfie recently, holding my ID to the camera for a police check.

It was grim. I looked like a hag who'd crawled out of a caravan park, nothing like the photo on my ID.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's rejected.

@TheTurn0fTheScrew

Try having a big nose. I have one, but never really minded that much - figured that if Diana Spencer and Barbra Streisand can make it work then so can I. But front facing cameras basically turn me into Cyrano de Bergerac.
😂 me too!

Majority of people have to angle their face for a selfie to look like anything else but a mugshot. I don't take photos of just myself anymore but if I take one with my DC I make sure to tilt my head to left slightly otherwise I look like I've just been arrested.

I could have written your post! So unfair! My friends always look really gorgeous and i look pasty white & squinty eyed... awful!

I get very confused because it makes my brain hurt but when you take selfies with an iPhone, they're set to automatically flip so you don't get a picture of the mirror image (which is what you're used to seeing). Because you're used to seeing your mirror image, you look very odd in it (to you, to nobody else). There's a setting (I think it's called 'mirror front setting') where you can change it so the selfie you take is a mirror image and therefore looks how you would think it should.

Don’t understand the selfie business at all, to me pointless

I think one of the best things about selfies is that it means you, as photographer, can be in the pictures. I have hundreds of pictures of me as a child but they're rarely with a parent as the parent was normally taking the picture. I think it's such a shame. I don't take that many selfies but at least my DS will have some pictures of me and him together which he otherwise wouldn't have.

I have a droopy face in selfies too! I quite relieved to find out it's not just me.
I look better in zoom calls than selfies though🤷‍♀️
