To ask what is an amazing 30th birthday present for a single woman?

It’s my good friend’s 30th coming up and I would love to buy her something special. Unfortunately I can’t be with her to splash out on a fancy meal etc so it will have to be something physical I can send. I do know her interests but I’m thinking 30 is a year it’s nice to get “milestone” gifts, especially as marriage and all the gifts associated with that is not on the cards for now. I’m trying to think of things you wouldn’t buy for yourself but you would appreciate being gifted …Budget is up to 100 pounds ish. She does own her own flat but not much space.

Out of your budget but I spent my 30th on the back of a Harley in Western Australia.

Is there an experience `she would like?

There are a lot of craft experiences from pottery to jewelry to leathermaking if the likes that sort of thing.

Obviously there are more usual experiences eg flying lessons.

A hamper of special foods you know she likes but doesn't buy herself.

Jewelry or a watch?

Gift experiences are a good bet:

  • A pair of tickets to a West End show
  • Hot air balloon ride

A bottle of posh Champagne

Nice hand bag
Tickets to local theatre
Jewellery
Voucher for a full pamper session at a beauty therapist - depends on area of course, where I live you could get a facial, manicure and pedicure and possibly back massage for £100
Nice photo frame with picture of the two of you
Vouchers to her favourite restaurant
Fit bit or similar
Wine/gin tasting class
Coat or nice jacket
New boots

Personally I love getting vouchers. Really enjoy going on a spending spree with them and always think of what I buy as having been from the friend.
I’m also a fan of asking someone what they actually want, especially if you’re going to spend a lot of money. No point in buying stuff that may just clutter her flat, or an experience she’ll never use, but if you ask, there may be something that would work perfectly.

Also I wouldn’t get too hung up on the idea of ‘milestone’ gifts. I’ve had presents like that before (e.g. jewellery) that, whilst nice, weren’t something I’d actually use or wear. So just get something that suits your friend’s tastes well. It doesn’t feel particularly relevant that she’s not about to get married, as that’s a completely different sort of occasion.

Depends on likes. My sil bought my kids newspapers in the day they were born and framed them. So I managed to get one from the day she was born and had it framed. She has it on her living room wall. Along with her owns kids and dbros.

Its my best friends 30th and I actually have no idea. But she loves Marvel. So I am probably going to get some memorabilia.

Oh and one of my most used pieces of jewellery is a bracelet I got as a leaving gift from a job 12 years ago. Nothing says 'leaving gift' about it. I might not get something with '30' on. But I would something she would like.

How about a flower delivery subscription for a few months? I don't know how much they cost but surely £100 would be a few bouquets? Or a plant subscription?

I would choose to buy A Jo Malone candle or diffuser.

SandysMam · 26/01/2022 05:51

A beautiful Jo Malone gift set would be my idea of heaven not 30 though
