How can this be right, Legal Consent Order

I am divorced but did not at the time make a clean break order. (Few years ago now, long marriage)

I want to buy a house and my solicitor advises I need this order, ok fair enough. Ex and I not on good terms but he is moving on in life and we had agreed to split and walk away (no assets at time).

So my solicitor has sent a number of letters which he has ignored and in order to get this order we have to go to court but he still hasn't filed a thing, and looks like he isn't going to, or even turn up!

Meanwhile my bill will be approx £5k, which apparently I can't ask him to pay because I want the order.

So he is doing naff all, spending nothing and I presume if he doesn't turn up, then what?

AIBU to think that he is being difficult as I actually want nothing from him, just to be financially discharged!

I can't get on with my life or remarry or live with someone in future as if I do he could chase me for my pension etc but I couldn't chase him.

So fed up, any legal people here who know what happens if he failed to submit form e or doesn't attend court?

Thanks in advance!

I'd get this moved to legal affairs and check out wikivorce to be honest. There are plenty of stories of men not engaging with the form E, but it might be different in your case as the divorce portion is done, it's just the financials

Oh thank you so much! Never thought of wikivorce!!! X
