To want to look younger

Ijustwanttochill · 25/01/2022 17:57

Hi all!
I am almost 44, which I know isn't too old, but when I look in the mirror I don't like what I seedefinite wrinkles now, even when I'm not smiling, and my lower face is starting to not be as toned
I use Guinot products every day, but am looking for a good anti aging facial I can have every couple of months that doesn't cost a fortune. Can anyone personally recommend one?
Thank you

Dermatica or skin+me - prescription skincare at an affordable monthly price

violetbunny · 25/01/2022 18:12

Forget the facial, go with botox.
Do you use sunscreen daily? It won't reverse existing aging but will help prevent further damage.

Tellthemagain · 25/01/2022 18:14

botox and profhilo. creams do nothing.

LeQuern · 25/01/2022 18:22

Sunscreen
Water
Facial massage
Decent serums / retinoids

These are the only non surgical routes.

There are no non surgical solutions to muscle / elasticity changes. Creams/Serums/Acids (retinols and the like) can absolutely make the texture of the skin smoother and therefore appear ‘youthful’ but turn back / stop time? Nope. Only Fillers, Botox or full on surgery.

FWIW I have neither but have very good facials every 6 weeks and use retinoids and acid peels. I look a good 10 years younger than I am but - and this is crucial - I have since I was 30 and that’s gone nothing to do with anything but genes.

LeQuern · 25/01/2022 18:22

(I do hear tell of Profhilo though…)

Lagarthatheviking · 25/01/2022 18:37

Forget facials, they feel lovely but won’t make much difference

AM -Vitamin c serum and spf 50
PM -Tretinoin (skin and me or dermatica)

Or obagi nuderm - prescription only-husband has just started this and I’m feeling jealous, can see results already

SantaClawsServiette · 25/01/2022 18:39

Facials and such are great, but honestly to some extent you have to make your peace with aging.

Taoneusa · 25/01/2022 18:40

You could invest in an led mask, boots do a good one, and a foreo bear.

StrongSunglasses · 25/01/2022 18:53

Baby botox and very small amount of filler in upper half of face/cheeks to lift the lower half gives a good result (as long as done well).

I’ve also heard good things about profhilo but apparently it’s very subtle and more pertains to skin texture as it’s just hyaluronic acid, so the more crepey/lax the actual skin is, the more dramatic the results. Also it only lasts for 6m and is a significant outlay. I’m still going to try it tho 😃

Aside from tweakments, then depending on your skin then maybe either hydrafacials/led facials might be good to improve skin health and texture; maybe a consultation with a practitioner to advise on best route would be good?

Aside from skin, I’ve found that keeping hair in good healthy condition with regular cut and colour (if desired) really helps. Glossy shiny hair in a cut that suits your face takes years off.

Also agree water, getting loads of vitamins and minerals, eating well and exercise/fresh air will all help.

In order of invasiveness and cost
Hyaluronic acid
Retinol
Sunscreen
Led mask
Botox
Fillers

Ijustwanttochill · 25/01/2022 21:11

Thank you everyone! 🥰 Have been considering profhilo, would be interested to know if anyone has experience of it?

@Ijustwanttochill yes I've had it about 4 times now. it gets better each time too.
it's not like an instant WOW difference. but the week after having it I always notice more comments about how lovely my skin looks, or they think my makeups changed and really suits me etc . people actively start mentioning my skin, so it's clearly making a difference. I get it twice a year.
it stings getting it done..

supersop60 · 25/01/2022 21:44

How much is it?
Asking for a friend.

Tellthemagain · 25/01/2022 21:48

I pay 490 for the 2.(u go to two appointments 4 weeks apart)

then do that twice a year.

AlDanvers · 25/01/2022 21:49

I have had Profhilo twice.

It stung having it done and I did notice a slight difference. But not enough that I am definitely going to do it again tbh.

emilyintheSE · 25/01/2022 21:52

Stop fucking around with creams and serums.

You need Botox and filler.

Svadhyaya · 25/01/2022 21:54

I have had Profhilo. It's very subtle - you won't look like you've had anything done but it does knock a few years off. It just makes your skin look in really good condition. I've told nobody in real life I've had it done and have had a lot of compliments on my skin lately (I don't particularly have naturally nice skin - I have lots of acne scarring).

whereismyhappyplace · 25/01/2022 22:03

Botox and fillers plus ZO skincare

Dermapen, peels and microdermabrasion all help too.

I've had Profhilo and I found it waaay more painful than fillers but that's just me, I only had one go as it hurt too badly so I can't say I saw any result - but as others say, you need the two treatments.

I'd check out your local aesthetics clinics and go for a consultation.

goodgirlinchachaheels · 26/01/2022 09:53

Botox, fillers, profhilo. Find a good practician who will give you that subtle look.
If you are in London, I highly recomment Dr Motox

PinotPony · 26/01/2022 10:11

Another vote for Botox... makes such a difference to the wrinkles and frown lines.

I also use retinol a few times a week. Sunscreen. Lots of water and sleep. And take collagen.

CrimbleCrumble1 · 26/01/2022 10:14

I started having fillers at 47 and botox when I was 50, I wish I’d started at your age OP. I used to have a facial every other month and now my annual fillers and twice a year botox costs the same.

CrimbleCrumble1 · 26/01/2022 10:15

goodgirlinchachaheels Dr Motox that does botox.
