to think this needs checking out urgently?

Have a fairly severe pain over where I believe my right ovary to be. Has been getting increasingly worse over the last few weeks and has become significantly worse this evening. I also have pain in my abdomen to the right of my belly button. Have a history of ovarian cysts but none painful like this. Had a very large polyp removed approx a year ago. Have had to have pre cancerous cells removed from cervix before but attend my smears and nothing worrying since. I'm really quite anxious about all of this and not sure whether it is urgent or not. Will try and see my GP but might be a fair wait! Sorry for posting in AIBU. I'm very anxious and could use some guidance.

When I had a ruptured ovarian cyst, I woke up one morning in childbirth agony and phoned 111, they told me to go to a and e, I spend a week on morphine and had surgery to get the bits of exploded cyst hoovered out .. I mean i think you would know if it was that, however, everyone feels this things differently, maybe it's a cyst growing , at the very least it needs to be looked at asap to figure out what it is, so I would recommend 111 asap, they should have the best advice

Thank you. Yes I agree it is nothing as awful as what you've just described. Sounds absolutely terrible!

A&E is for... accidents and emergencies?
If OP has had the pain for several weeks, it's not really in that category.
Try calling the surgery when they are open - I know that lots of people are having difficulty getting appointments, but I've had excellent response from my GP over the last six months, including unsolicited follow up calls after appointments to see how I was, so if you don't try to make an appointment, you don't know you won't get one.

I agree. Hence why this is my plan. Smile Just reassuring and comforting to discuss these things done times.

It actually sounds quite like appendicitis or grumbling appendix given the location, But the GP best to examine you and decide what's next.

YoBeaches · 24/01/2022 08:33

Oh just seen no appendix! Sorry Op.

I am wondering about dvt. Measure your calves. Is the right one bigger than the left? Are there any distended veins visible in your right foot? I have known dvt extend all the way into the pelvis. You definitely need to seek medical advice. Nobody can diagnose over the internet, we can only advise you to call 111.

I'd want an ectopic pregnancy ruled out fairly sharpish.

If she has fever and vomiting and a suspected ruptured cyst then I'd say that it's potentially quite a serious emergency

This was my first thought too.

Amazingly just had a f2f appt with my GP who was lovely. Has referred me for ultrasound but said some people have had to wait up to 10 months so crossing everything this isn't the case!

Did he check your calves?

Oh, sorry I misread your post as "he has referred". I would never usually assume sex.

UseOfWeapons · 24/01/2022 12:43

Hope you’re feeling more reassured, now you’ve seen the GP. As for the ultrasound, my GP referred me for one last autumn, and it was done within about 3 weeks of referral. It depends on how the referral was classed….mine was classed as medically urgent, by the GP, but if it had been routine, I could have waited a longer.

If you can’t get through to the GP to ask, I’d give it a few days and ring the ultrasound department, to see if they can give you the heads up on wait time for your referral.
Good luck, hope you get sorted!
