Speech Therapists in Hertfordshire and Autism support

Posting here for traffic... does anyone know of a speech and language therapist in Hertfordshire who has capacity for a new case?

I have literally contacted everyone within a 40 mile radius (using the ASLTIP website).

Everyone either us a full caseload or we are too far out for them.

It's for my toddler son, who is currently awaiting an autism assessment/diagnosis.

I am also trying to figure what else might support him. Possibly ABA?

I'm finding accessing NHS services hard, and confusing, (though I am new to all of this).

Finally is there help for parents too? It's literally been a couple of weeks since nursery flagged this to us, and after doing some research I see it in my son and pretty sure the assessment will just confirm his autism.

My DH and I have good days and bad days but today I am really struggling. Thank you in advance.

Could you ask your school if they know of anyone? I know local to us (not hertfordshire) that's how people often find one.
Some offer remote sessions, could that be an option while awaiting a local one?
There is someone on fb called SaLT by the Sea who works in the South Coast I think, I know it isn't what you are asking for but she has a lot of videos you might find helpful.
Hope you find someone.

I'm a speech and language therapist. Please do not do ABA! It's a way of rote learning socially acceptable behaviour.
There are plenty of other therapies out there with solid evidence bases that will support a child with asd.

How old is your son?
Your Heath visitor can refer you so contact them if still under their service. Nursery should have details of how to refer. You can also refer yourself, google your local trust and find children's service. Give them a ring they will help.

In the meantime there is lots you can try to support him, but it would be dependent on what he is struggling with?

Have you spoken to chips? They are a local charity for autism?

Which side of Herts? Are you a member of the Space, Addvance or Families in Focus groups in Facebook - you'll get local recommendations there.

Hi, you can self refer your preschool child for NHS speech therapy in Herts if they are under 5. Google HCT speech and language therapy to access the sight. None of my private SLT colleagues have any capacity at the moment - have you tried the Orchid Practice? Finally, I'd recommend SPACE and ADDvance for good parental support in Herts.
