What happens if you have a Covid jab whilst positive but didn’t know??

Very worried as I’m a long Covid sufferer and finally booked by first jab for Saturday but my daughters best friend at school has come down with omicron ( we think as she had Covid last autumn year when we all did too )
If I’m carrying omicron but just don’t know because the LFTs are negative would I be really unwell from the vaccine?
Very worried so any help please

I'm pretty sure my husband had the vaccine whilst positive (LFTS were negative and we hadn't done PCR's yet). He had covid the mildest out of the three of us!

I know I’m probably over worrying now but it’s taking me a very long time to reach this decision to have the vaccine because I’ve been so so unwell with long Covid I just didn’t want to get any worse so this is terrible timing for my daughter to have been in very close contact with someone positive.

A few friends did. They thought they had booster side effects. It was mild for both of them.

I think (but could be wrong) the reason that they have asked people to wait until they have been recovered for a month is to do with reporting jab side effects.
If you have the jab while you’ve got covid you could then think your covid symptoms are jab side effects & wrongly report that.

As above - my covid was only discovered because of my first jab side effects. I was symptomless and don't have long Covid

The MRNA vaccines are not conventional vaccines, so they do not contain any weakened or deactivated viral proteins. So I don’t see how getting an MRNA vaccine when you’re already infected would put you at greater risk of getting ill. But I’m not a scientist!

Have a look here for an explanation of how they work:

Hi Op,

Most people experience mild flu like symptoms, headache, temperature and arm pain after the vaccine which is completely normal.

If you were to have covid and the vaccine, you may experience side effects from the vaccine, as well as covid symptoms at the same time. But I don’t think there is anything to suggest you would be worse because of this.

The reason why you shouldn’t have the vaccine within 28 days of having covid, is to make sure the symptoms of covid and side effects from the vaccine aren’t confused.

Thank you all for the replies
I am just worried about worrying at the minute!
That link is very helpful so thanks for that -
It seems the only worry is that it could be not as effective if you have the virus at the time which would be a real shame as I’m hoping it helps some of my terrible long Covid symptoms
