Aibu to not want to sleep on a sofa bed for a week abroad?

Looking at an abroad holiday this year for a change (usually book a UK Cottage), and all the "package" holidays are rooms which have a living/cooking area with a sofabed and then one bedroom.

The kids are under 10 and so will likely want to sleep a bit sooner than dh and I - which means realistically they will need to sleep in the bedroom so we can sit up for a bit longer.

So that leaves dh and I on the sofa bed. Which I don't want to do.

Other than a villa (super spendy and usually then not within a resort), what else do families do?

I've scoured and found one single hotel on the site which has second bedrooms. It's quite frustrating!

EuroCamp is a good shout.

I'm more than happy to book airbnb/vbro as that's what we do in the UK, but thought as it's abroad / resort type holiday it would make more sense to look at packages that include flights/transfers etc. Plus they would then sort any covid related changes.

I'm going to read through all the comments though now for any hints and tips.

For more detail:-
1x week, at some point within the last two weeks of August, 2x adults, 2x kids under 10, 500pp max. Space to move inside/self catering facilities a must.

The kids are big sleepers and seem to prefer an earlier bedtime and an earlier wake time.

We do try and push them when we are on holiday, but last time we were away they were dropping asleep at 9pm. We got one night towards the end of the holiday where it was 10pm. And this is out at entertainment etc so motivation for them to stay up too.

You can find two beds in a resort type hotel (package holiday) but will probably be paying more and harder to come by, but do exist. But they're usually standard one bed apartments with sofa beds - which are always rock hard !
I know how you feel because we always want to stay up later so the kids end up getting the comfy beds and we're stuck in the living area !

Kids go to bed in the bedroom then when you want to go to bed you carry them into the sofa bed?

Otherwise go for a villa or apartment through air b and b

It wouldn’t bother me sleeping on a sofa bed, dh and I did it for 10 years to allow our kids to have a bedroom each when they were younger.

Also when on holiday abroad we used to take the cushions off the sofa and make a “bed “for the kids in the bedroom floor and we slept on the beds. Just meant we all slept in the same room. Kids saw it as an adventure.

Are you in England? If so, try changing your airport to Glasgow and see if that brings up anymore options if you’re looking for end of august.

Don't do it, I agreed to a holiday with family, I was led to believe they'd booked a two bed apartment but arrived to find me and DD were on a sofa bed in the lounge, it spoilt the holiday, it was uncomfortable and we were disturbed by the bedroom occupants getting up in the night to use the bathroom, getting up at the crack of dawn to bag sun beds etc. A slightly different situation but just on discomfort grounds I'd say don't do it.

That said I've also failed to find two bed apartments in a hotel rather than self catering at anything like an affordable budget.
