To dermaplane my cheeks? Will I regret it?

Pregnant and I don't know if I can use jolene stuff? To bleach

I am always more hairy when pregnant but this is really bothering me now

If I wax I get little Ingrown hairs and acne type things that need me to use an acne cream to get rid of them. I'm not sure what to do, should I dermaplane? Please help I feel so self conscious

I'm only going to do the fluffy hairs that you can hardly see in the photos, not my actual hair.

I had laser hair removal on my bikini line it changed my life, really improved my confidence.

I'll take some photos after I've done it. Interesting and good suggestion about the Lumea, it makes sense as the derma planing is effectively shaving isn't it, so it would make sense. Especially because I normally would wax my upper lip etc but doing the bits round my cheeks literally my cheeks and my neck would be perfect candidates for the lumea

Thank you for the other answers too

You're not as hairy as you think you are!

pinkyredrose · 19/01/2022 21:16

I dermaplane too, it takes fuck all time and I love the result, make up goes on better too.

Never thought about using Ipl on it tho!

Flocon · 19/01/2022 21:30

Do you use an oil?

IDKAYBIF32 · 19/01/2022 21:35

I have way more hair than you, and have dermaplaned for the last few years. It doesn't grow back any thicker.

Do not do it dry!!! Get this oil:
www.boots.com/veet-miraculous-oil-pre-post-hair-removal-100ml-10268730?cm_mmc=bmm-buk-google-ppc--PLAs_HeroCompare--Skincare_Other-_-UK_Smart_Shopping_Skincare_Other&gclid=Cj0KCQiAip-PBhDVARIsAPP2xc25k-FxQdJMGUd_3XJ_xajspZ2SdYW03Arr3GZiNpxQ8MSQyUqnT9YaAtbNEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Apply loads of oil, then take really gentle short strokes at a 45 degree angle, I tend to go upwards, but sometimes downwards too. Rinse the razor I between and dry it on a cotton pad. Don't go over and over the same area too much: it will make your face red the next day! Don't put anything else on your face afterwards, apart from the oil. Best to do it in the evening so your face has time to recover in case it is red.

Totalwasteofpaper · 19/01/2022 21:40

Dermaplane away! I have those disposable ones that are pastel coloured from amazon - great stuff.
Just go for short strokes and don't press too hard or go over the area repeatedly.

They make face look amazing when I can be bothered... when I can't make face doesn't look werewolfy or anything.

PaddleBoardingMomma · 19/01/2022 22:07

www.philips.co.uk/c-e/pe/lumea-try-and-buy.html

You can buy one for £38.50 a month direct from Philips, it takes the sting out of paying £450 upfront! I've been using it 4 months and it's life changing x

pinkyredrose · 19/01/2022 22:11

Ooh interesting link! There seems to be a lot of different Lumea's out there, what's the difference between them, are they constantly bringing out new ones?

Would anyone recommend getting one off ebay? Seen a few on there, wasn't sure if it was too much of a risk if anything goes wrong with it

Arnia · 19/01/2022 22:18

You're crazy OP - there's nothing there! I find it quite sad that it's come to this. Women being made to feel self-conscious over literally nothing. To answer your question dermaplaning is a fancy word for shaving, there is no difference regardless how they market the blade. So you'd be essentially shaving your face, which is fine but it will feel stubbly within a couple of days which may make you more self-concious if anyone touches your face. In your case I really, REALLY wouldn't bother. Your skin looks fab.

Toddlerteaplease · 19/01/2022 22:18

Oo I love using those tiny razors. Its so satisfying to see the dead sling and peach fuzz come off.

LadyMaid · 19/01/2022 22:19

For me, facial hair isn't about how it looks, it's more about how it feels. I really don't like feeling it on my face.

I use an epilator on my face once a week.
I wash my face with warm water, exfoliate, dry, then epilate.
Once I am finished, I wash my face with cold water and moisturise.

As I have been doing this since my teens (now in my 30s) it doesn't hurt much at all. Just stings a bit on the upper lip.

TeamBlondie · 19/01/2022 22:23

I have this anyway. I shave my face including that area, no stubble etc.

NotebookAddict · 19/01/2022 23:06

@PaddleBoardingMomma

IPL (Phillips lumea 9000) has been a god send, I have really dark thick hair, it's been the name of my life it was bloody everywhere, I'm now hairless from the eyebrows down. Ok it's an investment but lasts 15-20 years and I never have to touch a razor or dermaplane again!
Can it be used on legs, pussy hair, underarms or just facial hair?
cleowasmycat · 19/01/2022 23:20

What's the difference between using a deems blade or an ordinary razor on peach fuzz?

PaddleBoardingMomma · 20/01/2022 04:42

@NotebookAddict I use it on everything!

Agree.
Etinoxaurus · 20/01/2022 05:14

@Flocon

Could you get one of those springy things? They look like less risk of cutting your face.
More likely to cause ingrown hairs. @cultkid I’m super hairy, but weirdly it’s invisible it’s so fine. I can literally sheer off a table spoon of fluff and only remove it as a sort of deep clean and as the hair is so fine and plentiful some creams swirl around in it Grin I dermaplane every few months- and have done so for years, never caused ingrown hairs or made them grow out stronger or thicker. It’s cheap and quite frankly funand makes my face look smaller and make up sits better. If I never did it again I’d not mind.
TwoShades1 · 20/01/2022 05:39

To be fair, you don’t look hairy at all in pictures. But dermaplaning is AMAZING! I love how it makes my skin look and feel. It doesn’t make the hair grow back any different I think people just notice is more because now they know what it’s like without it.

yorkshireteaspoonie · 20/01/2022 05:50

I dermaplane on a dry face working but downwards in the direction of the hair growth. It's does not grow back thicker!

I use these ones. The more expensive ones I've found work no better

www.boots.com/kitsch-pro-dermaplaner-12-piece-set-10286828

I sold my lumea I just couldn't stand the flashing light of it constantly and you have to look at it to see where you are going. It's also a big old thing to hold in small areas I found it awkward / quite difficult

monkeysox · 20/01/2022 07:35

Do not shave your face. There's nothing wrong with it. I was expecting pic to be a dark beard. There's nothing there x

Arnia · 21/01/2022 01:32

What's the difference between using a deems blade or an ordinary razor on peach fuzz?

Literally nothing. It's exactly the same thing.

SC215 · 21/01/2022 14:57

@Arnia

I think it's sad that you're calling a woman crazy for wanting to try something with her own face. Men can shave their faces if they fancy, why can't women?

Also, dermaplaning isn't exactly the same as shaving, using the tiny little side razors helps to exfoliate the skin as well as getting rid of any hair. And it definitely does not grow back stubbly.

cultkid · 22/01/2022 17:48

It's made an enormous difference I feel so much better 😁😁

Hi @cultkid, I’d love to know if you noticed any regrowth feeling prickly?
I would love to do mine but have a bit of a prickly chin already and don’t want to increase my stubbly bits Blush

Appleofmyeye05 · 31/01/2022 12:43

I did mine recently and it brought me out in spots. I used one from a drugstore and I feel like if I used a sharper blade it would of had a nicer finish
