To ask how to improve my posture?

My posture is terrible. I always hunch over and always have. Whenever I'm aware of it when walking I straighten my back, but sooner or later I subconsciously go back to slouching. It's obviously more comfortable because I'm so used to it. I did use a backpack for years which may have worsened it but for the last few years I have just been using a shoulder bag.

Does anyone have any tips? Should I get one of those posture corrector things, and if so, does anyone have recommendations on which one/how effective it is?

Another vote for Pilates ! For whatever you choose I really recommend you do face to face classes rather than online, at least to start … for many exercises you can ‘appear’ to be moving correctly, but not be moving the intended muscles, so feedback from a good teacher is essential. Also, try and master some quick exercises which help, and which you can incorporate into your daily routine … e.g the Pilates roll down … takes a few mins to do 3 of them … I often do if I’m waiting for the kettle to boil, the microwave to ping etc. Another example is standing on one leg, or at least taking one foot slightly off the floor. Balancing exercises like this naturally make you adopt a better posture and you can eventually try this e.g when brushing your teeth, so it wastes no time at all ! … the more you can incorporate small exercises into your daily life, the more you’ll be reminded about your posture and the need to correct it. Of course make sure someone professional has confirmed you are doing any exercise correctly. Good luck ! My posture has improved a lot, but I do need regular reminding else it’s easy to slip back into my slouchy ways 😊
