To have laughed at her Slimming World advice?

831 replies

Pikaso · 18/01/2022 13:04

Woman at work has been doing Slimming World. She’s obsessed with it and goes on about it constantly armed with her books and Muller Lights at every meal.
I told her last week I was going to give it a go. I didn’t buy Muller Lights but instead bought some asda own yogurts which had almost identical calorie, fat and sugar content. Sat down to eat lunch yesterday and she came in and said “I thought you were doing slimming world?”. I said “I am” so she said “how many syns in those yogurts?” So I said “none, they’re the same as muller lights”. She replied “no, you’re meant to eat Muller lights!” And looked really concerned and worried!! I did owl noises in her face and told her the calories, sugar and fat etc were exactly the same so why would it matter??! She actually left the room muttering about how it won’t work if you don’t do it properly.

I did slimming world a few years back and stopped because of the cult like behaviour of the members and leaders. I thought I’d give it another go but she has totally put me off again! Nothing has changed!!
She’s been off with me ever since. WIBU to have laughed at her muller light concerns?? Common sense tells you it’s the calories etc that matter, not the bloody name on the pot!!

😂😂😂 every post OP makes is funnier and funnier. Fucking owl noises. I'm deceased

StaplesCorner · 18/01/2022 14:44

Maybe the older MNetters will recall that bloke that won Opportunity Knocks with his bird impersonations? Maybe he was simply pouring out his chagrin and disappointment with the world, his annoyance with low fat dairy ...

SailingNotSurfing · 18/01/2022 14:45

@Morgan12

😂😂😂😂😂 wtf.

Anyways, I agree with you. SW sausages have more calories and fat than the sausage I eat. SW sausages are syn free, or maybe 1 syn? And the sausage I eat are 3.5 syns each. Makes zero sense. The SW ones are double the calories.

Nothing about SW makes much sense, and despite someone saying the opposite, I still think they get paid to endorse certain products. Heck sausages, Mullerlights, Mugshots and Mayflower curry sauce.

Just eat less, move more, and do some owl screeches every now and then to liven up the monotony.

@MagicKit

Surely, if you're trying to get people to stop talking and pay attention to you, a pterodactyl screech would be way more effective than a gentle "cooo cooo"
I do a really good guard dog bark. Complete with growly snarl at the start.

That's what i'd do.

ShagMeRiggins · 18/01/2022 14:47

You’re not wrong (I don’t think) about SW participants having to use a certain brand of yoghurt, but…owl noises?? coo coo twit twoo..

I’ve seen you’ll send her an apology, but honestly, that’s so bloody rude.

It’s the kind of thing my my 17-year-old would start flapping about with when he wants to tell me to stfu for saying something in a reasonable voice, but something he disagrees with.

He also does a sort of “aaay aaay aaay” thing.

Both done while leaning into my face.

How have we gotten to the stage where making stupid noises into people’s faces is seen as an acceptable form of conversation? Over yoghurt brands. Fucking hell.

Wreath21 · 18/01/2022 14:47

I'm just hoping this becomes a Thing on MN and when posters are being particularly tiresome and WRONG we all start typing 'Hooo, HOOOOO'...

sqirrelfriends · 18/01/2022 14:48

Or go full seagull - snatch their chips and shit on their shoulder?

Grin

Seriously though OP, slimming world makes some people lose their common sense. Someone at my old work ate oven chips for almost every meal and complained she wasn't losing.

ChargingBuck · 18/01/2022 14:48

think that making animal noises is the correct tactic in the course of any non-zoological conversation

Grin Grin Grin @cakewench

Also, much respect to @ClawedButler & @Beowulfthethird Grin

pigsDOfly · 18/01/2022 14:49

@Pikaso

I didn’t screech at her, it was just a coo coo type thing
Owls don't make a coo type noise. Are you sure it wasn't more dove noises you were making.

Bloody odd way to behave making noises in someone's face, whatever the noise.

I'm not surprised she's off with you.

You both sound as daft as each other.

Joinedforthis22 · 18/01/2022 14:49

@Owlnoises you got the name before me, I'm peed off now, coo coo!

saleorbouy · 18/01/2022 14:49

Maybe you should choose a less offensive bird to mimic?

ferneytorro · 18/01/2022 14:50

Do you mean cuckoo? I think you do. Owls are wise and would go nowhere near the cult of sw or ww! Owls go twit twoo.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 18/01/2022 14:51

Is a coo one syn and a coo coo two syns?

PinkSyCo · 18/01/2022 14:52

You need to be more specific. I need to know what kind of owl. Barn? Tawny? Barred? Great horned? Short eared? Long eared?

Booksandwine80 · 18/01/2022 14:52

FML actually hooting (sorry, howling) with laughter 🤣🤣

Maverick66 · 18/01/2022 14:52

I have an image of Mary as in Giles and Mary from gogglebox

ouch321 · 18/01/2022 14:52

Anyone else thinking of this scene on Friends?

Jubaju · 18/01/2022 14:53

Sounds more like the dove from above … coo coo 🦉

eekbumbler · 18/01/2022 14:54

Omg 'I did owl noises in her face' AIBU? 🤣

Then turns out said noises were coo coo - which is a pigeon. Yet OP meant cuckoo 🤣

Fuck the yoghurts. If you'd done anything like that in my face I reckon my inner boxing Skippy might have appeared.

YABU for behaving like an absolute twat.

LittleBirdBlu · 18/01/2022 14:54

Owl noises 😂😂😂

DrSbaitso · 18/01/2022 14:54

@Pikaso

I wasn’t saying cuckoo. It was literally a gentle “coooo coooo … “ just to break her train of thought
Pigeon Street?
ThreeFeetTall · 18/01/2022 14:57

Wonder how many syns it is for a small mouse or vole?

DrWhoNowww · 18/01/2022 14:58

Should Owls eat dairy? Confused

Bypassed21 · 18/01/2022 14:58

@ClawedButler

The best thing about microwaving an owl is that you can maintain eye contact the whole time.
This wins the thread for me - I'm crying LOL

Also This:
8Is making owl noises in someone's face like t-rexing at the supermarket?
What on earth is t-rexing at the super market??

Just when I thought Mums net was getting dull Grin
