To have laughed at her Slimming World advice?

Pikaso · 18/01/2022 13:04

Woman at work has been doing Slimming World. She’s obsessed with it and goes on about it constantly armed with her books and Muller Lights at every meal.
I told her last week I was going to give it a go. I didn’t buy Muller Lights but instead bought some asda own yogurts which had almost identical calorie, fat and sugar content. Sat down to eat lunch yesterday and she came in and said “I thought you were doing slimming world?”. I said “I am” so she said “how many syns in those yogurts?” So I said “none, they’re the same as muller lights”. She replied “no, you’re meant to eat Muller lights!” And looked really concerned and worried!! I did owl noises in her face and told her the calories, sugar and fat etc were exactly the same so why would it matter??! She actually left the room muttering about how it won’t work if you don’t do it properly.

I did slimming world a few years back and stopped because of the cult like behaviour of the members and leaders. I thought I’d give it another go but she has totally put me off again! Nothing has changed!!
She’s been off with me ever since. WIBU to have laughed at her muller light concerns?? Common sense tells you it’s the calories etc that matter, not the bloody name on the pot!!

Nevermind about the yogurt - why did you do owl noises?!? You're acting like this is a normal thing to do any time someone is mistaken. I'm 47 - I've never seen anyone do owl noises in another person's face, no matter how misguided that person was.

Cstring · 18/01/2022 14:19

Never ever in my life has it ever occurred to me to make owl noises to shut someone up. Neither have I heard anything close to this. Just batshit. 🤣

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 18/01/2022 14:20

You made owl noises in her face??? How incredibly rude and childish. Sounds like you need to grow up a bit.

This. How old are you? Grow up, seriously.

Jengnr · 18/01/2022 14:21

Since Muller Lights haven’t been free on SW for about 2 years I’m calling bullshit.

Apologies if anyone else posted that. Not RTFT

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 18/01/2022 14:21

Bet Barbara is now in the manager’s office crying f-owl.

And manager is in agreement. What with them being the SW leader and a bit of a know-it-owl about yoghurt and that.

EmmaH2022 · 18/01/2022 14:21

I spend way too much time on MN
But where else do you get "owl noises"? 😂😂😂

Beowulfthethird · 18/01/2022 14:21

Results of some off the cuff research:

My three year old paused if I made an owl sound while peering into his face. Only the owl, mind, as in toowit toowoo or a hoot.

Cooing is for pigeons and coo coo is a cuckoo sound depending on intonation. Those did not work on my three year old as not loud enough to break his train of thought.

Results on children over five and cat:
Did not look in my direction at any avian sound.

Results on partner:
Unpredictable. He muted his zoom call and avoided eye contact.

IDidntKnowItWasAParty · 18/01/2022 14:21

Owl noises, wtaf. Do you normally do this OP?

Isaw3ships · 18/01/2022 14:22

Owl noises??? You sound bloody rude, so I’m that front yes YABU.

OMG12 · 18/01/2022 14:22

This thread is all about the owl noises for me

BodgertheJogger · 18/01/2022 14:22

@StoatMilk

Can you turn your head all the way around OP?

Not bat.

FinallySomeNormality · 18/01/2022 14:23

This is so weird...owl noises?!?!

And I'm sure it's been mentioned up thread but...even Muller Lights aren't syn free on SW anymore and haven't been for quite a few years!

iklboo · 18/01/2022 14:23

No MN consultant would be banging on about
'Only Muller Light' (or eat as much pasta & potatoes as you like) unless they had shares in the company.

quiteathome · 18/01/2022 14:23

Sometimes people write 'Swit swoo' or similar on people's Facebook photos to say they think they think the person looks nice in the photo.

Maybe she thinks you did that, and now she thinks you fancy her.

Although coo coo is more pigeon.

Owl noises though?

deadrave · 18/01/2022 14:23

Owl noises Grin she must have thought you were deranged!

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 18/01/2022 14:24

People stop talking because they think you're a weirdo.

That or they think you have some special needs, have a mental age of about 10 and are making allowances.

eurochick · 18/01/2022 14:24

I'm guessing you both work at Special Branch?

(I'll get my coat)

iklboo · 18/01/2022 14:25

Doesn't Slimming world receive money to promote certain products? Which is obviously what is going on here.

No it doesn't.

LookItsMeAgain · 18/01/2022 14:25

@SheldonesqueTheBstard

I’ve just tried it on my mam.

It didn’t work.

Did you twit-twoo or Cooo--coooo? I think it makes a difference.

Try again and report back Grin

the80sweregreat · 18/01/2022 14:26

Ahh, sorry , I assumed a 'marry up' with certain products. Obviously not then.

SummerHouse · 18/01/2022 14:27

I can definitely see people tweeting about this.

Hope you don't get owl-ted op.

BeeDavis · 18/01/2022 14:29

You were wrong to say the yogurt had no syns, Muller Light aren’t free.

Morgan12 · 18/01/2022 14:29
