To make tonight's roast dinner now?

I have a frozen turkey joint thing in the freezer and I'm going to make it for tonight's dinner with potatoes and Brussels sprouts and gravy. But cooking later is such a faff when DS gets out of school. My baby is napping and it's just occurred to me, couldn't I put the dinner on now while the house is peaceful? Cook it and plate it up ready to be reheated at dinner time? Or is that just going to destroy would could be a perfectly nice dinner?

I'd cook the meat and part cook the potatoes now. Then get the potato roasting tray lay them out in the oil. Do the gravy.

Then all you have to do is shove the potatoes in the oven, reheat the gravy and cook the veg.

Don't plate it up with gravy on, warm the gravy separately. Drain the sprouts and chill quickly in cold water they will reheat well.

Depends if you like reheated food.

I can’t stand it. Tasted rubbery

I think as a pp said, you can cook the meat and par boil potatoes, prepare veg etc

I wouldn’t plate anything up as that too me is a step too far!

I'd do the turkey now. Then later, drop a little stock in the bottom if the dish, foil over and heat in the oven.

Sprouts could also be done now then just before dinner chuck them in a frying pan with some bacon lardons to heat through and get all bacon-y

If you have an air fryer, oar boil the pots now, then drop into the air fryer before you start the orep mentioned above

I cook all meat and poultry joints covered in foil. at 220 genre's then lower the temperature to 110 degrees and cook all day. Then raise temp to 220 for the last 25 minutes.

You can park boil your potatoes, toss them in oil then refrigerate. Cook sprouts, refresh in cold water then reheat.

Don't plate it up it will be awful!

Good thinking! I will half cook everything now then just finish it off later Grin thanks!

I often do this if we have a busy evening. I will make up cottage pie, lasagna etc ready to pop in oven. Do a roast dinner but put the veg in a large serving bowl so everyone can help themselves, especially if we have different schedules. It's better than shoving a pizza in the oven.
