AIBU to suspect that the agreed price of certain newspapers dropping the front page stories about partygate is the recent announcement that the licence fee for the BBC is being abolished?

Any organisation that can seriously put forward Nigel Lawson as an "expert" on climate change, deserves all it gets. I have no sympathy for the BBC.

@CarlatheJackal

I really resent risking being forced to pay for channels I never, ever watch, or risk being imprisoned.

I don't know any other country with such a ridiculous set-up.

This. The BBC's constant refusal to make non-payment of the licence fee a civil, as opposed to a criminal matter, has cost it a lot of public support. Utilities that people need cannot prosecute you for not paying their bills, why was the BBC allowed to be an exception? It has too many channels and not enough content.

@jgw1

I think it is fabulous news that as a result of our freedoms having left the EU our mighty and fearless leader Big Dog has ensured that we won't be under the tyranny of BBC thought any more, that we have a crown on a pint glass and taxes on domestic flights have been cut.

It is good to be alive.

Truly bleeding edge, razor sharp satire.

Yes like telling 11 year olds there are a hundred genders. Like effing Pokémon.

Educators can do without such rubbish. Besides, anyone who has worked in education knows that the BBC clips are glitchy, often disappear or never work. Make their use in long term planning a nightmare.

Oh give over. One way off example in hundreds and hundreds of hours of programming is ridiculous.

We used BBC bite size extensively during lockdown. No tech problems here. Perhaps schools should look closer to home when bitching about that.

Well if you are actually a teacher you'd know the Dfe have advised against harmful stereotypes being pushed.
Unfortunately I have known enough teachers who are Blaise about safeguarding to suspect that you probably are. Just hope you don't lead or teach pshe/s+relationship etc.
