Possible burnt mouth??

Hey, I’m a first time mum with anxiety and I’m having a bit of a panic attack here!

My baby had his injections today, and I was told to give calpol as a precaution to stop a temperature.

I thought I best attempt to sterilise the calpol syringe as it was going in my baby’s mouth. So I put it in a dish and poured boiling water on it, and sucked some boiling water up inside.

I emptied the water out of the syringe, gave it a few shakes, and then used it to suck up the calpol and give it to my baby a few minutes later. I had assumed it was sufficiently cooled.

He cried whilst I was giving it to him, then kept crying the entire way through a bottle immediately afterward. I’m terrified I could have burnt his mouth on the syringe if it wasn’t cooled properly? Or still had a bit of hot water in it.

I know he could have been crying because he didn’t like the calpol, or felt under the weather from the injections, but I’ve put myself into a panic now in case I’ve burnt his little mouth! He’s asleep now, and so hasn’t had another bottle yet.

Am I being irrational here, or could I have burnt his mouth? And if so, what should I do? Please help! Thank you!

I'm sure you haven't, and even if you somehow have, your baby will be absolutely fine. My son hated Calpol at that age and would cry when he was ever given any.
