Jonathan Van Tamm has been the only grown up between us and Covid. What will we do now he's leaving? AIBU to be a bit concerned? (Hope he wasn't at the bloody party though)

The isolation period has just been cut to 5 days . No scientific basis for it , just following the US economic reasons only . I think this may be the reason for the announcement by him today.

Yeah, he’s lined up to return (from an already much extended loan) to his actual employer to take up an attractive and prestigious post that is presumably what he actually wants to do with his career, agreed probably weeks ago, over a minor decision about isolation times that was probably only made yesterday?

Give over.

He’s done a brilliant job over the last two years but I doubt it’s what he actually wanted to do with his life and he had to go some time. The crisis stage is mainly over, the vaccination campaign established - I don’t think him moving on is a particularly big deal.

@Theyellowflamingo

Not a trivial reduction a big deal actually. Re isolation period.

And this virus isn’t over by a long shot hosptalisations going up exponentially death rate rising .
Test numbers may be down but there is a test shortage and no need to do a pcr either and lft are not necessarily recorded .

You may desperately WANT it to be over - we all do that doesn’t mean it is.

Tinkerbells theory doesn’t apply here!

I'm loving the responses on Twitter advising Boris to follow the science Grin

I think we've seen the end of the endless daily pressers and "next slide please" and silly sporting analogies.

He's back to the day job.

He was the voice of sense and reason in this shit show we have had to endure. Thank you Prof JVT.
