Why are there no threads on Johnson and Prince Andrew in active conversations?

Two of the most privileged, entitled men have behaved appalling badly - is no-one else really, really fed up or are PR departments busy?

Boris is too tedious for me but I’ve def seen multiple threads today.

Less than 400 comments.

Most people are getting on with their lives and earning a living doing a proper job and contributing to society, something that's alien to both those menz

kijhahej · 13/01/2022 08:40

@RoseSmithe

"Good to see you're still working after the party"

Your comment makes no sense.

You're putting posts on close to midnight and then complaining other people aren't talking about a certain topic. I imagine the majority of people are asleep 🤷‍♀️

Always makes me laugh when people come on outraged that there isn't a certain post they can see straight away, yet they haven't started such a thread themselves and they haven't commented on the threads like that that have been running but they can't be bothered to search for. So you're annoyed at everyone else who has done the same as you - not started a thread and not commented on a thread. Bizarre.

ApolloandDaphne · 13/01/2022 08:47

Active conversations moves very fast.

I have no interest in reading about Boris or Andrew so I skip those conversations. I look to MN for lighthearted stuff.

Sparklingbrook · 13/01/2022 08:51

Every time Boris does anything there's about 10 threads. Usually one complaining that you can't call him 'Boris' the reason being that he is not your mate. Hmm
Most threads about him just seem to be a competition for how many sweary insults can be thrown.

FreshandLively · 13/01/2022 08:52

I've been on MN for approx 2 decades and it used to be there'd be interesting, intelligent discussion on all the big news stories, as well as awareness raised for smaller ones.

Now the only ones that take off are ones where people can give bad relationship advice or lay into the OP.

I really don't know why I keep coming back Grin

IDidntKnowItWasAParty · 13/01/2022 08:53

I've seen loads

SoupDragon · 13/01/2022 08:55

There have been loads and I've been hiding all of them. I fed up with reading about the pair of them.

SoupDragon · 13/01/2022 08:56

I think some of them tip over onto dodgy ground TBH or have so many posts that are libellous that the whole thread has to go.

Sparklingbrook · 13/01/2022 08:57

You could start a thread about a nice dress the Duchess of Cambridge was wearing and someone would come along and shoehorn Prince Andrew in somehow.

Bagelsandbrie · 13/01/2022 08:59

I’ve seen a few. I just think everyone is fed up with hearing their names to be honest.

Skiptheheartsandflowers · 13/01/2022 09:00

Less than 400 comments.

Right, so you were wrong, but now it's about the number of comments? There are multiple threads on Andrew and in multiple parts.

Maybe you should go out for a drive to test your eyesight.

SickAndTiredAgain · 13/01/2022 09:00

Less than 400 comments.

If you look at the title it’s thread 3, and the first thread wasn’t started that long ago, so actually it’s 2400 comments.

merryhouse · 13/01/2022 09:04

"they're lying"
"no they're not"
"tories are evil"
"no they're not"
"royalty is a stupid idea"
"no it's not"

Conversation over. Seriously, how many times can you argue over which source is more accurate?

dottiedodah · 13/01/2022 09:08

TBH I think everyone on here (and everywhere)! is sick of entitled white men doing what they want .I saw the Boris thread and moved on quickly.PA still doesnt seem to want to acknowledge what hes done wrong .VG says she just wants vindication (from what ?) shes done nothing wrong he has! Its these sort of attitudes that grate in 21st c Britain .Boris has apologised now ,so thats great then!

Mouseonmychair · 13/01/2022 09:13

Because not everyone is obsessed with the same things that you are. Johnson attended a part and broke rules. Mumsnet is full of rule breakers throughout the pandemic, I might not have been perfect by exercising more than once and getting back in curfew on exactly the correct hour of the day as parts of the UK moved between tier's. And with prince Andrew there isn't much to discuss

KatherineJaneway · 13/01/2022 09:14

I want to talk about people being stingy.

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 13/01/2022 18:53

Well, there are four going on the Duke of York at the moment, 3 of which are consistently active, and one Trending

  • the main one (now on part 3)
  • another one in the topic
  • one in chat
  • one in AIBU

Boris threads seem to be everywhere as well

I dint think the title of thus thread has aged well!

Sparklingbrook · 13/01/2022 18:54

Yes, the Andrew ones are springing up all over. They need shovelling into the Royal Family topic, not everyone is obsessed with it.

Is this some kind of strange joke?

Me neither

Feel free to step away at any time OP. You don't seem to be seeing what you want to, even though it's there in plain sight to the rest of us.
