I only took him downstairs so he wouldn't wake up ds1 who is a light sleeper

now I'm knackered and can't be bothered with all this

I've been awake since 4am too (but that's due to insomnia) and am already flagging!!

Ah yes, I remember those days - make the most of it coz it won't be long before you have to force your kids to get up in the morning.

have a kip on the sofa after lunch

merry xmas

Mine did that when younger. Now they are teens they have to be forced out of their fetid pits.
Tired and hyped on sugar at noon.

my two d;s were up at 7 but dd who is only 3 was still sleeping soundly at 8.30 and had to woken up!
amazing that dd1 (16) actually got up this morning with no protesting

yULeYSEES · 25/12/2007 13:18

mine were up at 5.30 but were only allowed to play with stocking presents upstairs until ex came to see them open presents. He came round just after 6.

Ripeberry · 25/12/2007 13:26

Didn't send our DDs to bed until 10pm last night .
Mainly because we had been visiting my Mum and did not get home until after 8pm and they needed a meal and a bath.
They did not wake up until way after 8.30am! but they've had a great morning opening presents and they are having Xmas dinner whether they like it or not or they don't get to open the other presents we kept back for AFTER dinner!

well, we kept dd1 up 'till 10 last night and she still got up at 3 sodding 30 this morning (or should I say last night?)

she got a telling off and managed to hold on until 6:30 [yawn] She's 8 and should be able to exercise a leeetle bit of restraint methinks...

ivykaty44 · 25/12/2007 17:16

3.15 dd 2 woke and saw santa had been - dd 2 told her it is the middle of the night you must go back to sleep, and she did. Then I got up for a wee at 5.30 am and dd2 got up and so that was it, stockings were opened and then downstairs for breakfast....

tribpot · 25/12/2007 18:06

I've always wondered about this - and ds having woken me up at 4:30, I've had time to ponder - why do parents of teenagers object to them sleeping all morning? Is it because you have plans for the day and can't do anything until the little blighters wake up? Other than that, it sounds utterly blissful and to be encouraged! But I do remember my parents being highly annoyed about it and I can't fully work out why.

dd woke up at 11.45, about half an hour after FC had been and thought he'd got away with it! I had to get into bed with her and act as a human barrier between her and the stocking. She got back to sleep about an hour later. She then woke up again at 5.00, and I didn't have the heart to do it again! I'm now tucked up in bed, about to go to sleep!
