I will be 56 soon - am I too old to wear a bikini?

I am 5'8" with a typical hourglass shape I would say. Cellulite is an issue but it would be in a swimsuit. I have fairly good boobs and I find that a swim suit just squashes them. I would usually wear bikini and a sarong. I don't have major overhang (well not standing up). What's the consensus? If bikini where can I buy one that gives good upper support with a fairly high bottom half? Don't want to spend a lot of money.

Of course you can wear a bikini. There is no cut off age. Wear it and enjoy your beach holiday!

Cryalot2 · 12/01/2022 20:32

There is no age to not wear anything.
Do it and be happy. I wore one to I was 59. Bought an expensive swimsuit which I have yet to wear.

Covid stopped us getting abroad and was the reason I still haven't wore swimsuit.

Absolutely, and in no uncertain terms: wear whatever you feel comfortable in! Wear the bikini!

Mrsmadevans · 12/01/2022 20:35

Good God no , wear it with pride OP Smile

MyComputerGetsSadWithoutMe · 12/01/2022 20:41

I'm almost 29 and Jane Seymour and many non celebrity women I pass on the beach look way better than I do in a bikini, of course you should wear one.

AllKindsOfWrong · 12/01/2022 20:49

Hell no. If you want to wear a bikini, you go for it no matter what your age.
I look upon it that I'm extremely unlikely to see anyone from that holiday ever again, so who cares what they think.
Go for it and enjoy.

Sainsbury’s TU usually have good bikinis with supportive tops.

DillDanding · 12/01/2022 21:52

If I was slim and in good shape still, I’d wear a bikini at that age.

It’s about feeling confident regardless. I have a really big friend that happily wears a bikini at 50. She looks great, but I’d feel too self conscious.

lljkk · 12/01/2022 21:53

Who would disapprove & why do YOU care what they think?

user1471538283 · 12/01/2022 21:54

Oh do! I bet you will look fabulous!

LessTime · 12/01/2022 21:55

There are bikinis and there are bikinis…… 🤔. I wouldn’t feel comfortable in a string bikini but do in the ones with more coverage. I find the ones with the roll top on the bikini bottoms are good if you are a bit fat around your hips and stomach.

soisealta · 12/01/2022 21:56

You are never too old!

AffIt · 12/01/2022 21:57

Absolutely not.

Wear the bikini.

LadyJJ · 12/01/2022 22:01

I'm 50, I love my bikinis, I'd look at Pour Moi , they do separates that much and match and are bra sized, I have 3 or 4 from there.
Enjoy the beach!

SarahBellam · 12/01/2022 22:12

There’s only question you need to ask yourself:

Do you want to wear a bikini?

If the answer is Yes, then you totally wear a bikini.

Hippywannabe · 12/01/2022 22:26

I am 57 and have lost nearly 5 stones in the last few months, still got a bit to go but I am definitely going to be in a bikini this summer. I have never worn one in public as I have never really been slim. Cannot wait!

This has made me very happy to read! I hope you have an amazing time and feel really proud of your hard work!

Paulina Porizkova is 56.

LadyPropane · 13/01/2022 12:58

Absolutely wear a bikini if that's hkw you feel comfortable. But I would suggest that you don't scrimp. Get a decent one

Flavabobble · 13/01/2022 13:01

Never too old for a bikini.
Whenever I go on holiday I take a wrap or something to wear over it. That gets discarded after the first day, you think I’d learn.

puffyisgood · 13/01/2022 13:02

Wear whatever you're comfortable in - comfortable physically and comfortable how you look. Don't feel pressured to wear or not wear anything.

LittleGwyneth · 13/01/2022 13:28

There is no age and no body type which would make it inappropriate for you to wear a bikini. As long as it's covering your actual vulva and nips, have at it. You don't earn the right to wear certain clothes by having a certain type of body.
