Does anyone have any ideas about this?

Have you run a cleaning cycle on it?

I'd assume it was a eggy smell from the drains.

LaBellina · 12/01/2022 09:11

It’s possessed and needs an exorcism.

Have you cleaned the filter lately?

Porridgex1x1 · 12/01/2022 09:12

I have run a 95 degree wash hoping that this would sort out any problems. It hasn't resolved it unfortunately. I have put a descaling sachet into the washing machine and run a wash programme. This hasn't improved things either sadly.

Ha ha!

I hadn't thought of filter, so will look into this. Thank you!

A cup of bleach and running an empty cycle might also do the trick.

Thank you for this excellent idea. Will give it a go!

Or if you have no bleach in, try vinegar instead.

AlbertBridge · 12/01/2022 09:21

You can get washing-machine cleaning kits. DH got one for ours, although I was the person who ended up doing it. 🤔

You remove the drawer and soak it in half the solution, then scrub it clean. Then you pour in the other half of the solution and run an empty hot cycle.

It worked well on our machine.

Thanks both for these tips. Much appreciated!

Mine does this and I think it's something to do with the drain. I've done hot bleach washes, vinegar, drain unblocker, bleach down the drain, changed the machine filter and nothing has helped yet

Snoopsnoggysnog · 12/01/2022 09:35

Get someone in to look at the drains?

KiloWhat · 12/01/2022 09:35

Is it definitely sulphur and not an electrical burning smell?

Topbird29 · 12/01/2022 09:44

There could be something stuck in the pipe that that takes water out if the machine. We had this in old machine- somehow not quite connected right, so the angle if the pipe meant there was a small area where a small amount of water could collect and would go stinky. And then the pipe got a bit blocked. Took pipe off, cleaned out and put back on and all OK after.

girlywhirly · 12/01/2022 10:03

Pull the machine out and look at the drainage pipe. I noticed an unpleasant smell from my machine, and discovered it was due to a vile grey greasy sludge that had built up, mainly due to dousing low temp washes. I do regular empty hot cycle wash with washing soda, and that does the trick.

Mischance · 12/01/2022 10:04

Your OH's underpants have been in there?

Definitely sulphur. It's very different to the smell you get when electrical sockets are causing issues.

@Porridgex1x1 I'd try and give it all a good clean and then get someone to look at the drains then

This is food for thought. Thank you! Will try and get machine our for further investigation of drainage pipe.

Thanks for tip. I will definitely take drainage pipe off and have a look. 👍

You might need to give the drainage pipe a good clean out, the sludge that came out of mine smelt awful! The soda crystal hot wash does wonders, and soda is very cheap.

DrinkingChristmasDry · 12/01/2022 17:45

Is it inside the machine or outside and do you only smell it when it's been on or can you always smell it?

LosingTheWill2 · 12/01/2022 18:19

My washing machine is next to my sink. My sink and washing machine drain to the same pipe. I get a smell from the sink every time I use the washing machine, it i my happens when the washing machine is draining and not for very long.

confuzzzzzled · 13/01/2022 15:35

Mine was doing this and i realised that it was because I was doing too many 30 degree ‘eco’ washes. A few hot cycles with washing machine cleanser did the job.

Yes, this is exactly what happens with mine!
