To rub magnesium cream into my abdomen 7 weeks pregnant?

I've got such a sore lower abdomen atm. I had an early private scan a couple of days ago that showed baby and heartbeat and everything looking good. Sonographer couldn't see any reason for the tight/ sore feeling abdomen.

I used to get tight/ sore legs after running and if I rubbed magnesium cream into them it would really help. It says it's safe to use during pregnancy and to use as frequently as needed.

I'm wondering whether I should rub some of that onto my lower abdomen where it's sore? I'm still waiting to be assigned to a midwife so can't ring them and can't get through to the bloody drs!

I would personally wait until you can ask a professional so keep ringing your GP until you can ask them. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

If you can't get hold of your gp, ask a pharmacist!

Is it pulled muscle sore or period pain stretchy sore? I remember having awful stretchy sore pains at about 8/9 weeks which were just a pregnancy thing (too early for ligaments but I was having twins so a lot of kerfuffle in there). They passed in a couple of days.

Tbh I'd probably be more inclined to try rest and paracetamol rather than rub something directly on my stomach. It's probably totally fine but I'd have a nag at the back of my head that would override the pain relief.

Please don't take medical advice from strangers on the internet. Ask a pharmacist, doctor, or other professional in real life.

If it says on it that it’s safe to use in pregnancy then you can bet it’s safe to use in pregnancy. No one is mislabelling that.

If it says it's safe to use in pregnancy then it is. Like previous poster said. They don't just slap that on willy nilly. Whether it'll help I doubt it. Running is different to pregnancy, your muscles aren't tired, your uterus is stretching and relaxing ready to accommodate your growing baby. It's a pretty common feeling.

Pop to a pharmacy, take the tube with you to show it says pregnancy safe and ask him/her

CushionDeer · 08/01/2022 12:48

No but I’m not sure the manufacturer banked on anyone using it on their abdomen/ womb area?! I thought it might mean safe to use on arms/ legs / general body parts during pregnancy?

The manufacturer isn’t taking that risk! If it says it’s safe to use in pregnancy then it’s safe to use. They put “warning, contains hot liquid” on the outside of McDonald’s coffee. They’re not putting “safe in pregnancy” on a medication and then just thinking “they’ll know not to use it on their stomach”.

If it says safe in pregnancy it’s safe.

Call 111 if you can't reach a pharmacist by phone.

AliceAbsolum · 08/01/2022 15:49

It's probably not your stomach muscles, more your uterus stretching, so I doubt it will help
