Unclear covid rules

I'm a live out carer.
My partner is currently covid positive.
The child I care for is vulnerable to chest infections, has a bipap machine and a cough assist machine.

Work have said I am okay to work as long as I provide a negative lateral flow test on the morning of the shift.

Backstory-
We believe my partner contracted covid from a Christmas family get together, where two members tested positive the day after despite everyone having a negative test the day of and days before the get together. 7 days after the meeting he had a positive lateral flow.

We are on day 5 of him testing positive, and work have asked me to work tomorrow morning as long as I have a negative lateral flow.
We are still waiting for PCR results.

I have questioned the guidelines with work, and called the covid helpline when my partner first got his test to confirm we did need to self isolate. Work keep stating there are different guidelines for healthcare workers.
Is this true?

YABU- listen to work, go to your shift

YANBU- sounds like they're just understaffed (they are, there is no cover for me) and breaking guidelines

I don't want to put anyone at risk. We have been self isolating but it seems mental to go into work with a vulnerable person when living with a covid positive person.

You don't need to self isolate if someone in the household is positive as long as you are double jabbed. You just need to do daily lateral flow tests. I would wear at mask at work too (I'm guessing you do that already) . These are the rules in England so may be different if you're not here

There are different rules for health care settings. You might want to check these and see what it says. But if track and trace have told you to self isolate I believe that’s a legal requirement and your employer shouldn’t be asking you to come in. Check the specific guidance for your sector though

You don't need to isolate just because you're a close contact.

If you have a negative LFT you can go to work as normal. You should be taking LFT's daily too.

This might be it depending on your role

I think this days you don’t need to isolate if you are fully vaxxed

But suggests you need a PCR before going into work.

If your double vaxxed then what work are saying is within the rules. Whether it is right or not is a different issue

Provided you are exempt from self isolation as a contact you should do daily lateral flows and each day you are negative you can carry on as normal. Healthcare is the same, although with a RA possible if working with vulnerable people.
