Anyone do Remote Customer Service type Job? How to get into it?

Hello.

I haven't worked in a long time due to ill health. I'm splitting up from my DP 9not married) and I really need a job or me and DC will be in big trouble financially.

I could work from home, but for various reasons I'd find it too difficult to work out of the home. Not childcare, I don't need childcare as DC are 12 and 16. It's my health issues.

I have been looking into Remote Customer Service / Assistant / Admin jobs.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has this type of job. What qualifications are helpful? Anything in particular?

I'm doing an NC in Business Administration and enjoying it, nearly finished. I started because I thought we'd be splitting up. Should I go on to HNC? or something else.

I think I'll need some voluntary work as nothing is on my CV.

I used to do retail work and enjoyed it. I tried care work but couldn't handle it. Nowadays with my health has to be home based.

I fear I'll never get anything and be trapped on UC.

I've had an influx of PM's asking for details on remote working call centre jobs. I didn't realise so many folks might be looking and were interested.

Conscious I don't want to out myself but also want to be as helpful as possible. So here's some links to vacancy pages for call centre outsourcers in the UK many of whom offer perm WFH and some supply kit rather than BYOD. High speed stable broadband is normally a prerequisite.

Maybe I need to do an AMA on getting into call centre remote working! Hope this helps Smile

In reply to the question about part time. Yes these roles do come up but with less frequency than full time. Probably worth signing up to any mailing list for vacancies so you are notified when they come up as application rate is high. If you can be flexible to attend full time training for a short period to compete an induction typically 2 to 4 weeks before working part time hours this may also open up more opportunities.
