To be completely fed up with long Covid and consider antidepressants to help the constant exhaustion?

I don’t know if anyone has been in a similar position but I’m completely floored and in constant agony since having Covid back in the summer.
I’ve had months off work dosed up on diazepam for the back pain which I’ve been waiting for an MRI since the start of December and have just been given an appt for March.
Im now on nerve pain blockers which don’t seem to be doing much and the back pain is still awful but what is the most dehabilitating is the complete exhaustion.
I am tired ALL the time, from the minute I wake up to the minute I go to sleep.
I struggle to drive as my eyes get heavy, it’s just awful.
I’m so worried I’ll lose my job or at least won’t be able to financially cope when I go onto SSP.
I have been taking folic acid and vitamin D as the blood tests I pushed for showed I was low in those and I also take iron supplements.
I’ve had private B12 injections and a vitamin infusion on an IV privately to try and get some energy but nothing has worked.
Would antidepressants be something to try?
Do these give you an energy boost at all?
Completely lost but willing to give anything a go at this point.
Thank you for any help!

Definitely worth a try. It's all a but trial and error.

It feels so hard to keep on with the trial and error as I need to get back to work. I can’t afford to go onto SSP.
But I am going to give this a shot Wink

Very frustrating for you. I was once told focus on getting your sleep right, as it makes such a difference to the next day. I hope the Fluoxetine helps.

Have you been referred to a long covid clinic. Might be worth asking about a referral. I’m not sure where the government got with them.

Post covid fatigue has been linked to micro-clotting. Have you had a d-dimer test at all?

My long covid lethargy lasted from March until end of August. It started to lift then with the odd relapse.

I’m going to try so hard this week not to sleep during the day so my body can maybe adjust to getting a better nights sleep and maybe I won’t feel so utterly exhausted.
I had normal blood tests which showed a defiency in a few things but I’ve not heard of a d dimer test - I’ll have to see if the doctor is willing to do that as after a quick Google it seems not always as no treatment unless a severe issue?
My legs are very painful after any walking but mainly my back is the issue pain wise as that’s there all the time.

Can you work from home in your job? I didn’t see that you mentioned what type of work you do but I may have missed it. You should not be driving if you can’t keep your eyes open on the road. So would working from home help the situation?

WorriedWilma123 · 11/01/2022 17:05

No I can’t work from home sadly
I’m having to get cabs for the school run if I’m too tired to do the 10 minute drive - it’s horrendous
