AIBU re man at work?

My immediate team at work consists of me and another man.

We had a meeting yesterday with a few of the management team and I mentioned that we’d had to make changes to XYZ document because of issues we’d had in the past.

My colleague then immediately spoke over the top of me and said exactly the same thing but in a slightly different way. I then said yes - that’s what I’ve just said he accused me of being aggressive.

WIBU?

Nope. Good for you

I think you were right to say what you did.

It's bizarre that his response to assertiveness and confidence is to call it aggression, especially when he's just spoken over you.

Ignore him. Continue to politely call him out when necessary.

So he mansplained over the little woman and didn’t like being put in his place? Well done he’s a cf and hopefully has now had his card marked

And the management team said ....

Hopefully they thanked you and raised at least a eyebrow at him.

YANBU. Someone actually came up with a word for that type of behaviour a few years ago. It's called hepeating. www.independent.co.uk/life-style/hepeating-what-woman-ignore-men-idea-repeat-sexism-misogynist-a8080601.html

Well done. Good for you!

Not the first or last time an articulate, assertive woman has been accused of aggression.

whatisforteamum · 06/01/2022 09:53

I get this all the time.Im the only woman in a previous team of 6.
Anything I say gets taken as aggressive.
Good for you for standing your ground.
