To think job applications are far too hard to fill out?

I'm in tears. Spent 3 hours trying to do a job application form for a temp agency and I'm not even sure it actually went through. I had to sign the form on the computer which was not do-able as I don't have the stylus pen (who does?). It had to be signed about 12 times so looks an absolute mess and like a child has done it. I also don't have valid photo ID or a bank statement from the last 3 months. I provided full birth certificate and national insurance paper from a few years back but can't help but think I have blown it and wasted my time. Are all job applications this hard? I honestly can't see myself ever working again if they are.

1 x 11 page application form
3 x references
3 x interviews
1 x presentation

All for a job that only pays min wage / living wage or slightly more.

It says a lot about the company / HR department and sends out red flags. So I just ignore these and do CV only applications. Thankfully most jobs are CV only Smile

Actually - I’ve seen more job adverts requesting a 2 page CV max and a short covering letter under 300 words.

If I ever need to add my signature to anything online I use a programme like DocHub - it’s free and you add your signature to it once then from there you can upload any document and move your signature on the document to anywhere you want it.

It’s much easier than copy pasting a picture of your signature - you can move your signature around and make it larger or smaller. Very quick once you learn how to do it.

@underneaththeash

Where do you live OP? My very intelligent (high earning) husband also finds online forms difficult to navigate. If you live in the SE I would happily come and help you - with my apple pen.

You can print off a bank statement or call your bank and ask them to send you one.

Each time you navigate a hurdle makes you stronger.

He's lucky to have you beside him giving him this perspective.

I find them very hard too, but I have to counsel myself out of the anxiety and panic!

I have put everything in to these forms a few times for internal promotion where there are five sections, one for each competency and you have to demonstrate a competency in each section but also, stay within a word limit. You also have to fill in your job and education history. I have had to ''dialogue'' myself up out of a slump when I didn't get through to the next round in the internal competition because my form filling wasn't up to their standards. It was difficult, but as @underneaththeash says, I had to accept that this is something I need to do better. I can do it better. I will learn how to do it better, there's a better job at stake.

Giving it lots of time helps. If you say to yourself, right, I'm going to spend 5 days on these forms, then if you get them done in four you feel ok, and not panicky.

However, when it comes to temp agencies, I would leave some fields blank. A temp agency once asked me for my pps number and like a fool I provided it. I wish I hadn't. This was before GDPR obviously but I felt drained after giving them every detail of my life and then they never found me any assignments.
