To have booster when pregnant

I've booked it for tomorrow I felt so paranoid about having it when pregnant. I had Covid over Christmas and thankfully it was mild. I'm very grateful I wasn't so poorly.
I was starting to get to the point where boosters etc were really making me question if we actually should be vaccinating everyone or just the vulnerable etc, like we do with the ordinary flu vaccine
I feel anxious having the injection, I feel stressed about not having it

What do I do

I had my booster at 8 1/2 months pregnant, so far still a healthy pregnancy and only a few days to go now. Advice from my midwives and GP was to get it.

Hi OP how far along are you?

I’m 17 weeks and have had my two jabs (last one just over 3 months ago) but I’m a bit hesitant to get the booster now because they’ve said it’s effectiveness wears off after 10 weeks which is right at the start of my 3rd trimester and when I’m most at risk. So part of me want to wait so I’m covered over that time.

Spoke to my midwife and she understood my concerns and relayed the official advice which is to have it. I’m still on the fence though.

I had my booster at 17 weeks pregnant, no problems at all.

I had mine when I was 16 weeks. Had no side effects and I'm sure it's absolutely fine. We're following expert advice after all not some pseudo science claptrap on Facebook. Also they'll give you have a dose so let them know you're pregnant. Congratulations by the way.

@LittleGwyneth

It's an incredibly difficult decision and there's no real right or wrong answer. I've been told different things by different medical professionals. Most of the doctors I've spoken to seem to say that getting it is the best option. That said, it's very difficult to feel relaxed about it when you're told to avoid certain types of cheese and coffee for the baby's safety! And the fact that the advice changed from 'don't get it if you're TTC' to 'get it now!' without much explanation doesn't help.

If you're towards the end of your pregnancy I would probably wait, on the basis that you've probably got some natural immunity from having just had it. But that's based on nothing other than personal feeling, and absolutely not scientific.

most of the doctors… mate, who are the doctors who are suggesting you don’t have it??

I can’t see how it’s an incredibly difficult decision but then today I’ve had over 70 referrals for pregnant Covid +ve women in a unit with a birth rate of about 6,000.

That’s just today.

Maybe I’m a bit jaded by it all.

Please, for the love of god, have your vaccines ladies.

If "just the vulnerable" need doing, that's you. Get the jab (when you can, the right number of days after you're allowed). You'll feel better when it's done

@Serena1977

everyone man/ woman/ pregnant/not pregnant person needs to wait 28 days from their positive pcr.

It is not difficult to find this information. You don't need to consult a HCP, just book your booster for day 29:)

It's 12 weeks after covid for under 18s I think 28 days for adults
cultkid · 07/01/2022 19:13

Sorry all I've been in hospital due to them doing a positive partosure swab for pre term labour

My gp told me to have the vaccine right away I'm so so annoyed with her, consistently giving shit advice. I didn't know I needed to wait a month.

I've had both other vaccines and I'm 26 weeks pregnant tomorrow. The Covid was PCR positive on 21st December so thinking to eek it out a bit more then get the booster so that I have maximum coverage at the end of my pregnancy @cbb2021

Really appreciate the helpful advice here

Asking advice from total strangers on Mumsnet isn't necessarily crazy - many contributors are hcp's etc and although will not know details of the specific case will have a good idea what the current guidelines are or who to speak to (and may have looked after seriously ill pregnant women with covid and have seen that almost all will be unvaccinated).

Hope you have been able to get your appointment for day 29 OP and baby OP arrives fit and well
