virtual-addiction.com/smartphone-compulsion-test/

I scored 11 points. I feel angry and upset that I've let my smartphone take over parts of my life. I don't really read books any more. My phone is on the bedside table at night and it's the last thing I do before I sleep, and the first thing I do when I wake up. When I leave my phone at home to go for a walk, I feel free, but if it's on my person then I have to check it. My DP gets upset that I check my phone when we are supposed to be doing something together. I'm self employed so my phone is integral to my day-to-day business, but needing it by my side has encouraged more and more mindless and pointless scrolling!

I think phone addiction is more serious than we are letting on. I know I'm not the only one. Anyone out there feel the same way I do and desperately want to change?

I scored 8 which is high 😂

On the one hand I dont blame people for being addicted!
It's incredible we can access the world and live our lives through it eg research and book holidays pay the Bank, order a food shop, check emails

But yes I'm addicted. My DC are dependent. I'm hoping to slowly wean us off our poor usage over the summer.

11

8 or higher- If your score is over 8 you might consider seeing a psychologist, psychiatrist, or psychotherapist who specializes in behavioral addictions for a consultation.

Hahahaha.

I don't think so.

I think this test is designed to drum up business for psychiatrists.

No because a mobile has never ruled my life. I had a PAYG one. All it was capable of was making a call or sending a text. I put £20 on it and it lasted nearly two years. I would send a text maybe every couple of months. It died three months ago, I don't miss it and I haven't replaced it - I'll stick with my landline.

Yes I’m too dependent on mine. Getting an alarm clock and charging your phone outside of the bedroom is helpful.

I charge mine just outside the bedroom and still use it as an alarm meaning I actually have to get out of bed to turn it off.

(I got 6.)

  1. I have it near me in case family need to contact me; turn off notifications at night etc.

Not wedded to it but equally it is very useful as a book, camera, sat nav and all the other bits as well as a communication tool.

I was an 8
would like to reduce this a bit
