Yes I get paid anything cocid related but need to show proof

HappyPumpkin81 · 03/01/2022 20:31

I can work from home but not with a 4 year old present. If her nursery is closed, or she is asked to isolate I have to take annual leave. I think the lack of support for parents in this situation is crap. She does not have a father, and I do not have a partner so nobody to split the time with either.

WFH, large corporate

We are all trusted to take sick leave when we need it, even with covid to work as much as we can and to take the time required to recover.

pleasestoprainingplease · 03/01/2022 21:08

Nope self employed childminder. If I isolate I can't charge, if children are isolating I can't charge. Been a tough few months

melj1213 · 03/01/2022 21:11

I work in a supermarket so no WFH option, and we get paid for any covid absence where you have to isolate as per government guidelines and company policy.

How much you get paid depends on the actual circumstances but broadly speaking if you are jabbed and/or have had a booster then you will get CSP from day 1 but if you are unjabbed then you get SSP (unless you have a medical reason).

If its a case where isolation is not actually required (eg you have been a close contact but have no symptoms, are double jabbed and negative LFTs) then you won't get paid, but that's a personal choice.

I've been WfH since March 2020.

I'd be expected to continue WfH if I had to isolate, unless I was actually unwell, in which case I'd be paid company sick pay (which is full pay for up to 6 months).

Orangebonbon · 03/01/2022 21:28

I work In hospitality, currently isolating, I get paid 80% of my wage as I have a positive PCR result, without that would be standard SSP.

gamerchick · 03/01/2022 21:30

No and no, but we're allowed to use AL at short notice though.

fourplusfour · 03/01/2022 23:53

No wfh and no pay for self-isolating either. Luckily have only had to do it once.

JockTamsonsBairns · 03/01/2022 23:57

I'm a carer, currently off work after getting a positive PCR test on Friday. I can't wfh (obviously) and I don't get paid - other than SSP, but even that only kicks in after three days.
Feels a bit crap really, especially since I caught Covid at work ☹

arethereanyleftatall · 04/01/2022 00:13

No. Self employed and can't work from home.

Merryoldgoat · 04/01/2022 00:17

Yes - a pledge was made at the start of the pandemic by the employer that all people would be paid in full due covid-related absences. If you can wfh you do as much as possible.

If not you just get full pay. It’s recorded separately to sick-pay and doesn’t affect sick-pay allowances.

I think they are discussing that if you have to isolate but have chosen not to be vaccinated then it will be unpaid.

BearPunter · 04/01/2022 01:18

I work in a school, had symptoms and positive test so no expectation to work from home, I probably could have done towards the end of the isolation period but tbf I slept most of the time I was off and was genuinely ill. I definitely caught it from work, not that it's particularly relevant but just made me feel slightly less guilty!

My other half tested positive from me (I was the proven patient zero in our house) - couldn't realistically work from home but was fully paid for the whole period. Once he got over being annoyed at me for grounding him he was pretty happy he got paid to sit at home for a fortnight and drink beer... to be fair it was the first time he'd had time off since the pandemic started.

Kitkat151 · 04/01/2022 01:36

We have the option to wfh ( nhs community nursing team)

nanny2012nanny · 04/01/2022 01:52

No and not eligible for any help either if I don’t go to work I don’t get paid. Can’t pay my rent / bills

Waxonwaxoff0 · 04/01/2022 06:02

I did get paid in full when I had Covid but I expect I would only get sick pay next time if I caught it again. Cannot WFH at all in my job.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 04/01/2022 06:03

Although I get working tax credits as a single parent so I could probably claim the government grant.

stayathomer · 04/01/2022 06:08

Retail- I don't know if we get help from government (in Ireland) but given I don't think we get paid for sick days in general I doubt it!!!
