Help with employed nanny questions

am due to become an employed nanny in February, what is your nanny's routine? What does she do when she needs to use the toilet?

My kids are old enough for this not to be an issue, but with smaller charges I'd expect much what a parent in sole charge would do? I.e. make sure the children are safe in a cot/playpen and then go quickly?

A parent would also have the option of taking them into the bathroom/toilet but presume this is not permitted for nannies?

If you are starting this in Feb I think you need to do some proper research and prep on routines etc rather than asking random Internet forums...

@mrsmalcolmreynolds

What?

Don't be daft. Of course a nanny can take a baby/small child into the toilet with them.

@wintercoffees

What experience have you had with babies/children? How old are you new littke charges?

mrsmalcolmreynolds · 03/01/2022 17:12

Thanks for clarifying MerryChristmas21 - we didn't have a nanny when mine were tiny and I wondered whether being partially unclad in the presence of charges was a problem, that's all.

Thank you that's helpful

The children nannies care for are routinely referred to as charges.
So, how old are the children you are to look after.

nannynick · 03/01/2022 20:53

Once children are mobile, you won't be able to go to the loo without them coming with you. If you dared get there first and shut the door, they will bash it until you open it... or create havoc around the house, so better to have them with you so you know what they are doing.

Babies, take them with you to the loo. You get used to holding a baby and peeing at the same time.

I am looking after a 1 year old. Parents are working from home

When I need to go to the toilet I go to the toilet.

Have you had much experience? It can be fairly challenging as a nanny to have the parents working from home so have you had a chat about duties/taking your charge out independently/other boundaries?

nannynick · 03/01/2022 22:31

I nanny a 1 year old, they are fun. I suggest you try to get outside every day.
