AIBU stylish, comfy heels?

I'm quite short and have always wanted to wear high, supermodel heels. Or stilettoes.
The ones I have are all comfy, sensible ones from Clarks. Tried a few 'fancy' heels from River Island and the like - not comfy to walk in over uneven ground.

AIBU to think that there must be comfier heels out there of the sort I want?

I think you have to accept a degree of discomfort. I used to wear high heels but I largely don't bother these days. Platforms are generally more comfortable than thin soled stilettoes.

If you find them let me know!

I have an older colleague who wears high heels day in day out, genuinely don't think she owns a pair of flats. At our Christmas do she was wearing a pair of stilletoes so high I don't think I could've stood up in them. I asked her how she does it, my feet were aching in my ankle boots with a one inch block heel and she was up dancing all night. She told me she's worn high heels for so many years her feet are now numb!! Get arches are now so high from doing it she can't wear a flat shoe workout getting cramps. I don't think comfortable properly high heels exist.

I find Jimmy Choo actually really comfortable! The Misty ones especially (slight platform!). Valentino heels are comfortable too - the mid height ones 😊

Marks and Spencer!

malificent7 · 03/01/2022 16:18

I would bother...dated and cause bunions.

malificent7 · 03/01/2022 16:18

Wouldn't*

ScreamingMeMe · 03/01/2022 16:21

I've tried for many years, have never found any and have given up. Sorry OP!

I think to some extent ot depends on your feet. I have friend who wearsots of high heels, but flatter shoes kill her feet.

Yeah sorry I agree!

Kitten heels can be very comfortable - they're not high, but I think they can be quite stylish. Not the ones we saw everywhere a few years ago, but the shape - a broad attachment to the sole at the heel, tapering down, but widening out again at the heel tip.

Personally, I"m lusting after the "Lily Rose" model from John Fluevog - some of his shoes are an acquired taste, but he makes really well-made and supremely comfortable shoes - I have had several pairs over the year, and find them to be high heels I can run for the bus in.

Thanks all for replies!
Bit of online research shows it does depend on your feet... so I might try on a few.
other option is a 'professional shoe fitter' but i wouldnt even know how to get one

Have you looked at Sargossa, they're specifically designed for comfort. I have one pair (they're quite expensive) but I have significant foot issues and this is the only pair of heels I can manage in.

itwasntaparty · 03/01/2022 22:08

I have up years ago but for a fancy cocktail party back when they were a thing, I used to wear ballroom shoes and always taxis door to door.

errnerrcallnernnernnern · 03/01/2022 22:42

I rarely wear heels so I have a high bar for comfort for when I do wear them. I bought a pair of leather knee high boots from TK Maxx 10 years ago. They’re very comfortable, I can wear them all day and they have a perfect heel height (less than 2 inches) and still look almost as good as new despite extensive wear.

I’ve just looked at the brand, it’s Lavorazione Artigiana. From a quick Google:

“This is not exactly a brand, but a way to work. The products labeled under "Lavorazione Artigiana" are products hand crafted locally in Florence, by little artisans without any brand.”

LaChanticleer · 04/01/2022 10:59

@TractorAndHeadphones I’ve done mail order. It’s a very personalised service, but I had bought about 3 pairs in their New York shop so I knew how the sizing was for me. I stock up when I’m in NYC, but that hasn’t been possible for a couple of years, obviously.
