Bokkembaup. Tastes amazing and would use loads of cabbage

TroublesomeTrucks · 02/01/2022 22:35

Not sure about cabbages and lettuce, but Cabbages and Roses make great bed linen.

Justajot · 02/01/2022 22:36

Feed them to our guinea pigs. If you've got a local guinea pig rescue, they'll gladly take them.

Lettuce and almond soup. I have a soup recipe using potatoes, leek, a carrot, a turnip and lettuce. Tis yum. Like a cream of leek and potatoes without the cream so good for me.

Paul Rankin has I his book a potato, cabbage and cheese layer thing that’s divine. I’m away from home so can’t give it to you. And I can’t eat cheddar anymore so haven’t made it for years. You just keep making more to fill the lasagne dish you want to use.

Colcannon, I could eat it every day

SushiGo · 03/01/2022 01:28

We had Brussels sprouts in pesto the other day and it was delicious, bet that would be good with cabbage.

Sauerkraut.

Braised lettuce really is delicious.

I use this Jamie Oliver recipe:

Braised peas and lettuce

as a rough guide, then just throw in whatever lettuces and green things need using. It always turns out very tasty. Sometimes I add chicken. In fact I might make it this week to use up the last of the turkey meat!

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 03/01/2022 03:02

I agree that Kimchi is a great idea.

Also remoulade, coleslaw, lamb and cabbage soup.

GrannyBattleaxe · 03/01/2022 05:36

Lettuce soup is very nice.

Never buy one of their boxes again, would be a good idea. The very idea of someone else choosing what veg I have absolutely does my head in.

Davros · 03/01/2022 11:07

City farm? Depending on where you are of course. Ours collects Christmas trees and the goats eat them

thegcatsmother · 03/01/2022 11:17

Shred the cabbage, cook in butter with caraway seeds as your veg with a meal.

Sunshineandrainbow · 03/01/2022 11:42

Coleslaw to serve with pizza or pasta bake.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 03/01/2022 11:47

Make minestrone or ribollita with the cabbage and freeze.

Inextremis · 03/01/2022 11:52

This recipe for Stuffed Baked Cabbage Rolls with Cheese looks good - planning on trying it myself this week.

MadameFantabulosa · 03/01/2022 11:54

Cabbage Foogath is delicious. Google for recipes. Cabbage will also keep for weeks and weeks in the fridge.

billy1966 · 03/01/2022 12:28

Lettuce soup is gorgeous.

Just very gentle fry lots of onions and cubed potatoes, salt and pepper, in butter for 20 minutes.

Add the best quality stock you have and boil up.
Add the lettuce leaves and whiz up with a hand blender.

Delicate and delicious.

TheBermudaTriangle · 03/01/2022 13:07

This is my absolute favourite recipe for cabbage (I use sweetheart cabbage for this) - absolutely delicious and so easy! I do also add some peas to the cabbage, just for some freshness and additional colour.
