Covid and social life

I am not originally from the city I live in. Moved here 10 years ago. Made around 5 good friend - the ones you can drop in to see without pre arranging. And a few acquaintances you go to the pub with. Alongside work friends.

My Xmas with my family who live 4 hours drive away got cancelled due to covid. 4 friends got covid and had to isolate over Xmas, except 1 I spent Xmas and new year with. It was lonely as I couldn’t really see anyone.

They are now all out of isolation and taking advantage of the down time to see family and have Xmas part 2. I am still stuck at home alone. Have been more most of the festive period except with other friend for 3 days. He has plans with his family now.

What to do? So bored I have cleaned, emptied my wardrobe, ate slept and did some work.

Covid, even though blessed I was negative has ruined my plans and now lonely. If was positive my friends said I could of spent time with them.

Have you tried reading, watching a film, some exercise?

Covidfallout2 · 02/01/2022 15:31

Sometimes there is no substitute for seeing people. When are you returning to work OP? Will this help?

Can you not message a good friend and ask to see them, even if only for a short period of time?

The only other thing I can suggest is to get outdoors during daylight hours and go for a walk. Usually a few people will say good morning to me, especially earlier in the day.

Try and make yourself go out, go to the cinema, have a coffee out. I know it’s not the same as seeing people but at least you are near people and it will be a change of scene.

@TheSparkling they are all busy with family. It was much easier when I was younger to have plans.
