Hysteroscopy for coil removal?

After some reassurance or people’s experiences. Has anybody had an hysteroscopy?!
I’m 29 and have had the coil in for 8 years, I have PCOS and had a spell of using no contraception and had no pregnancy scares before the coil. Since the coil my period have become very heavy, bleeding through my jeans even with a tampon and two pads in an hour at worst points. In the last 12 months I have started getting bleeding almost daily at times, often watery and not just a normal period. I had an ultrasound and an internal ultrasound and the hospital have said my copper coil is sitting too low, which won’t be giving me contraception and could be irritating the cervix causing the bleeding. I’m unsure whether they are just covering their backs or whether I should be a little bit worried by the fact we have been having sex without reliable contraception and not fallen pregnant. We were already looking to remove the coil in the new year so said we would just take it out now and see if the bleeding settled, went to Dr’s for removal and there was only one string which promptly came away leaving the coil inside me…
I now have an appt booked for a few weeks tile for a hysteroscopy and coil removal. I’m quite worried about it as I know my cervix is quite high, the Dr struggled to get to the coil to try and remove and when I had it fitted it was painful and the Dr found it hard to get it in. Does anybody have any experience of any of this..? I’m nearly 30. Thanks guys 🤞🏻

Hi,I’ve had a few hysteroscopies due to some complications and to have coil fitted/changed.
The coil part of it has been fine for me,especially the removal!
The husteroscopy itself can be a bit sore and it brings on cramps/period pains.
But everyone has a different experience. Your gynae will be very used to dealing with your issue and hopefully it will run smoothly.

I've had one. I took naproxen, paracetamol & codeine an hour before and didn't have any issues.
Maybe ask your gp for some additional painkillers.

Hope it goes OK.

My coil removal was done under general anaesthetic. Not sure I'd want to be awake for it
