I’m a scruff.
I have nice clothes, only cheap stuff, charity shops and some things from next.
I always, always have clothes for “best” and clothes for every day.
But no. In 2022 I’m going to wear everything in my wardrobe no matter what the day is.
This is mostly due to never going anywhere to wear my “best” clothing!!
😩
Do you do this or do you always look lovely in niace clothes?

@MercedesBenz exactly! It’s so silly really and I wasn’t even conscious that I was doing it. I was feeling sad when I finished the last of a really good Manchego as that was it for another year, but then I had the very obvious realisation that it doesn’t need to be.

Great idea. I bought a dress and I don't know when to wear it or what to wear it with but I'm determined to find a way!

@AnxiousHeffalump

I don’t have any nice clothes for best 🤣
Same I wish I did.

I don't save anything even things like candles will get lots of burning done straight away.

I dug out a pewter coloured sequinned jacket/cardigan by Jaeger before Christmas that I hadn’t worn for 8/10 years. I wore it with a t shirt, wide legged trousers and trainers to a brunch on Christmas Eve. I felt great actually - not overdone at all. I had only previously worn it in the evening but I loved the contrast with the more casual clothes.

I've got tons of nice clothes and I get annoyed with myself for not wearing them. Unfortunately they all need ironing so I end up wearing t-shirts and leggings most of the time. Think I'll follow your example, though. If you've got nice clothes, flaunt them.

InconvenientPeg · 04/01/2022 22:32

I started doing this a couple of years ago, when I started buying and selling vintage. I buy so much stuff, clearly come from house clearances, and it's obviously never been used, it's really sad.

So now I use all the nice things, and make sure I enjoy them. And when they're used up/scratched/broken/stained, I feel sad, get rid of them and use something else.

@Divebar2021 that sounds lovely. I'm thinking chunky boots, it's long black and high necked Smile

What a great thread! I looked in my wardrobe lately and found stuff I hadn't worn, or haven't worn for years because I'm saving it for best. Time it was worn. Am also going to start using the good crockery and glasses apart from at Christmas . Also have some beautiful vintage China tea cups that are going to come out.

Pugdogmom · 04/01/2022 22:50

In fact when cases come down a bit, am going to drag my husband out for a meal once a month and wear something nice.

Fallsballs · 04/01/2022 22:51

I work in a charity shop sometimes and the amount of stuff we get that was ‘kept for good’ is very sad. It has made me use things everyday but I’ve also got into a rut clotheswise and will start to wear my dresses with tights and boots starting tomorrow ! I had completely forgotten until reading this thread I even had any.

Peregrina · 05/01/2022 10:58

I wonder if this will stop now that younger people are much more ready to throw things away?

Lavender24 · 05/01/2022 11:10

I'm the same - I have so many nice clothes and I wear the same bleach stained leggings every day cause they're so comfy.
