Taking kids out of school

So I was due to go away tomorrow, cancelled due to covid, I can't book for later in year as only have my holidays agreed to April - have rebooked for Feb but will have to take my son out for a week - how do I stand school wise - I have evidence of my previous booking etc and can prove I only have set weeks and not all fall within school holidays

None of that will make a difference to the fact it will be an unauthorised absence if you take him out.

PomRuns · 30/12/2021 14:40

We’ve had leave agreed before (twice) both times due to having restricted AL.

DolphinFC · 30/12/2021 14:42

What are you hoping the school will say or do?

Their hands are tied - it will be marked down as unauthorised.

girlmom21 · 30/12/2021 14:42

Cancellations because of covid are irrelevant.

If you were due to go tomorrow wouldn't they already have been missing some kind of school?

Cheersto2022 · 30/12/2021 14:48

I would just go with it in mind that you more than likely will end up with a fine and enjoy yourselves. It's the worst that will happen.

zingally · 30/12/2021 14:49

It'll be an unauthorised absence. But honestly, who cares? Enjoy your holiday!

only a day as he wasn't due in until next week, we booked it this week so as to avoid him missing school

Just do it.

As long as you don't expect staff to give extensive support for catch up.

The fines are relatively small anyway.

Life is too short.

vickyc90 · 30/12/2021 14:51

Think of it like a parking ticket and just pay it if you get fined

girlmom21 · 30/12/2021 14:51

So can't you book for Feb half term?

Honeygoldcaramel · 30/12/2021 14:55

I wouldn’t worry about it, OP.

I would never expect the staff to do that, he is a bright lad and is ahead of his targets

No as I don't have leave for that week
