We are due to fly to Lanzarote on 15th January. Should we go?

Just that really, I know it will be a hassle and extra costs with tests etc. but I just don't know what to do. No major health concerns to consider.

I would be off like a shot. I went back end of last summer to puerto del carmen, had serious reservations before I left but honestly don’t know what I was worried about. In resort tests we’re quick and efficient, other than wearing a mask sometimes it was no different to any other holiday. Enjoy op. Jealous!! Grin

@KeyWorker

We’re also going to the canaries on the 15th January. We never considered not going but trying to get my head round what I need to organise is giving me headache!
Book PCR test for your return to the UK. 2 days before you go To the Canaries, fill out Spanish medical form with your NHS COVID jab certificate attached. 2 days before you return To the UK have a lateral flow test and fill out the UK form

Take masks with you for flights and obviously also for your holiday. Enjoy!

Yes, most definitely. I'm in Gran Canaria right now and it's been an absolute breath of fresh air.

Yes, you need to wear masks inside - but you do in England anyway

Yes, you need to wear them outside where you cannot keep more than 2m distance (but you're exempt if you're exercising).

You don't need to wear one if you're sitting at a table /restaurant /on the beach.

I organised my PCR test and pre departure test before I left with Randox but you can do the pre departure antigen test for 30€ at the local doctors/farmacia and the results are back within 4-6hrs.

I would not hesitate one bit to come

My parents used Randox for there PCR test on return to the UK from the canaries back a couple of weeks ago. Can I also use them for the pre-departure test?

@oldandscunnered

Insurance says it pays for reasonable transport and accommodation if we have to isolate but I'm not sure what that means. I think you can organise your tests with the tour operator and you send them a picture of your lateral flow result. You also have to take a pcr test when you come back and isolate until you get the result.
Which company did you use for travel insurance?

I’m going to Vegas and really need to find cover that will cover me for costs if I need test positive before coming home

Jowak1 · 29/12/2021 22:04

@LibbyL92 I am going to Vegas in February and have booked Post office insurance- not sure what covid tests we need before we go though and good companies to use??!!

LibbyL92 · 29/12/2021 22:10

@Jowak1 I’m also going Feb!
14th!

I’m using DAM health for my fit to fly (£29) Chronomics lateral flow for fly back to UK (£19)
And concepto clinic for my day 2 PCR £129 for same day results

Darbs76 · 29/12/2021 22:12

Personally no, I wouldn’t want to risk spending 10 days in isolation there. I guess depends if you need a pre UK arrival test? I’m in some cruise groups and so many are getting off loaded and sent to isolation apartments for 10 days. Omicron is so contagious

Jowak1 · 29/12/2021 22:12

@LibbyL92 no way I fly 13th!! Thanks for that info I will do some research into those names you have mentioned. Have a fab time 👍😊

LibbyL92 · 29/12/2021 22:17

@Jokie

  • the test before we fly home doesn’t need to be supervised.
gogohm · 29/12/2021 22:18

I went in November, was lovely but I would have tried to postpone if they made me wear a mask on the beach/by the pool!

LibbyL92 · 29/12/2021 22:18

@Jowak1 *

Haha! No way. Which hotel are you staying in? We’re doing Luxor for 4 and Bellagio for 1

  • the test home doesn’t need to be supervised.
Jowak1 · 29/12/2021 22:22

@LibbyL92 this is uncanny !! We are staying at the Luxor snd a few years ago for my 40 th we stayed at the Bellagio!! Lovely hotel

Sorry OP hijacked your post x

LibbyL92 · 29/12/2021 22:24

@Jowak1 this is hilarious!

It’s our first time staying in both hotels! Previously have done NYNY and Caesars.

We’ve booked to see Shania Twain on the 18th!

I’m really hoping we get there, I must say I am feeling quite hopeful!

  • yes sorry OP! But definitely go on holiday!
oldandscunnered · 30/12/2021 13:23

Thanks everyone - feel more inclined to go now - whatever will be will be but I am sick to death of doing everything right and still getting restrictions (I live in Scotland) and at the moment everywhere is dead - it just isn't fair.
