Gas and electric

Just got our 2023 tariff through for gas and electric and not sure if I am over reacting or if it is a lot.

So if you don't mind saying how much do you pay for gas and electric?!

Hmm

£55 a month
I think I'm on variable rate since I moved house?

Your price per month isn't fixed. What you pay for each unit of energy is fixed so if you use more you will pay more. Does £98 cover what you use?

This is also a common misunderstanding with people not even on a fixed tariff.

I read so many comments from people along the lines of 'we pay £60 by DD every month for gas and it hasn't been increased all year!'. But they're totally missing the fact that the amount the energy supplier claims by DD is actually pretty irrelevant...and if your DD repayments haven't been adjusted since prices have shot up, there's going to be a huge nasty bill on the way soon.

I think plenty of people will be having a huge shock in the next few months - after being pleased their payments have 'stayed' at £60 a month then get an annual statement with £1000 owing.
