I imagine a lot of people are lounging around watching telly and eating junk but that’s not so easy with a toddler in tow.

Isolating and house bound as we got positive covid tests !!!

toastfiend · 28/12/2021 13:39

This morning we played some of his new board games, then DH took him for a walk whilst I got some work done/sat and enjoyed the sweet, sweet peace after a busy Christmas.

Right now he's playing another board game with DH. This afternoon DH is going for a run and I'm going to do some baking or model painting/dinosaur excavating toys with him. We'll probably watch a family film late afternoon/early evening before tea and bed. Might have a picnic tea in front of the film. All very relaxed and the kind of thing I quite like doing with him. I'm trying to avoid endless imaginary dinosaur games today because I'm not sure I have the capacity after the Christmas mania combined with him having chickenpox all over Christmas and none of us getting any sleep really.

Mittenmob · 28/12/2021 13:47

I wish mine would do films or crafty activities. He's just turned two, very opinionated to put it mildly. He'll watch 20 mins of something but then decide he wants to go and break something instead. If I gave him dinosaur excavating games he would throw it all everywhere resulting in hours of cleaning. I'm so done with it!

Mine is almost 3, the year definitely made a difference for us! He's always been quite chilled, but I remember the early stages of him being 2 being quite testing. I think we did lots of finger painting, making a mess in the garden and hunting for the Gruffalo then. We have dogs so always out for a walk whatever the weather, which isn't the most pleasant when it's pissing it down, but definitely helped with tiring him put so he'd have a long nap and DH and I could have some down time. Definitely harder when they're younger, though, although I do miss the naps.

We are having a day watching TV and eating junk. DS (nearly 2 1/2) seems perfectly happy with that. He did wake up at 4am though and is just getting over a nasty virus so a quiet day was needed I think.

twinkie100 · 28/12/2021 14:41

Here we went to the local library this morning to return a load of Christmas books and choose some new things. 2 year old was running around like mad but no one seemed offended 😂. Then on a whim we went for lunch (chain Italian place).

My brother is coming over with his wife and kids for tea this afternoon - both of their kids under three - so that will be fun for them all.

Fresh air is always my answer!

Troublesometooth · 28/12/2021 14:42

My 2 and 5 year olds are helping themselves to their body weights in chocolate and trashing the house while DH is in bed upstairs with a sickness bug and I’m on the sofa with flu.

TulipsGarden · 28/12/2021 14:45

Cursing the weather. We were going to go to the zoo but the forecast this morning was much wise than it looked yesterday. Am very glad we didn't bother.

We're currently watching Stick Man in a darkened room and hoping for a nap, but I think it's unlikely. Maybe a playground this afternoon as it's not meant to rain anymore here, but it's windy and cold and miserable.

I would honestly pay nursery double to take him for a day this week. We had lovely plans but are trying to avoid Covid, so needed decent weather for walks in the woods and by the sea. Don't fancy the soft play plague pit right now 😳

Mumoblue · 28/12/2021 14:51

Just playing inside. It’s been pissing it down for three days and my son has JUST grown out of his wellies. We did get a bit of fresh air on a walk earlier with him in the buggy, because I had to do some shopping.

Luckily he’s still quite interested in all his new Christmas toys, but I hope the weather changes soon.

Mittenmob · 28/12/2021 14:51

@toastfiend my DD would have been good with those activities at that age. My DS however would, for example with finger paints, quickly get down from the table/walled off paint environment and decide to smear his hands all over every single kitchen cupboard and wall resulting in hours of clean up. Gruffalo hunts end up in him taking it way too far and going to get 'swords' to get the gruffalo witj which he then hits our thighs with until we take him home kicking and screaming. He doesn't nap. He will stay in his pirate ship outside for hours so we are doing that but it's freezing and a miserable way to spend the day!

Anonymouslyposting · 28/12/2021 16:09

Hiding at home on day four of isolation with covid - we’ve read all the books, baked, drawn, built block towers, sung nursery rhymes, I am going slowly mad…

yoyo1234 · 28/12/2021 16:13

Currently he is deconstructing cheese sandwiches and making "cheese soup" by mixing cheese with water he is pouring everywhere......Xmas Confused

yoyo1234 · 28/12/2021 16:15

@Mittenmob,
The difference between your DCs and my 2 is very similar. What is a "pirate ship" as it sounds like it will amuse my youngest (who would live outside continuously given a chance).

Rosebel · 28/12/2021 16:23

Son has been sick today so nothing much. Tomorrow if he's better we'll go for a long walk and possibly go to the park. Then just play with his toys. He got his first duplo set for Christmas which I think he (his dad) might play with tomorrow.
If he's still bad we'll just stay home and chill out.

TheNinny · 28/12/2021 16:28

Walked in a mountain glen area to a waterfall

TheNinny · 28/12/2021 16:30

She’s stopped napping from 2h to zero essentially over a few days but she napped 30 mins in car. Now watching tv and playing with Xmas toys. I’m eating shite and not feeling gulity

KatherineofGaunt · 28/12/2021 16:31

Trying to potty train so having a naked day inside.

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 28/12/2021 16:46

Swimming and beach walk! I want to be at home with a cupa and a bag of choc watching shit on tv

Sammilouwho · 28/12/2021 16:46

Went for a long walk around a sculpture park. She ran free for a good while fetching a stick my husband kept throwing at her whilst pretending to be a dog, it kept her happy Smile
Tomorrow is shopping for new storage and hopefully swimming because my very pregnant hips could not cope with the walk today!

It's a small climbing frame with a flag attached. I have to run around it constantly being a shark.
