How do I get things done?

Posting here beci don’t know where to post!
I just don’t seem to get anything done! Housework is endless and I am procrastinating it just never goes away.
We need stuff done in house and I find it impossible to find a tradesman in the first place and then trust them enough to commit. I can’t make a decision about anything. I’m overwhelmed with how to organise home and kids. I need to do diy, and just don’t know when to start. Or how to plan.
I seem to be whiffing through this holiday not achieving anything.
How do you people with clean and organised and lovely homes achieve it?

Rather taken aback at the PP who said all tradesmen are lazy scumbags. Who recommended those particular ones to her?
I have had the same plumber for thirty years, and he's wonderful. So are the joiner, plasterer, painter, electrician, builder, handyman - all recommended by my fellow villagers, and all do an excellent job at reasonable rates.
OP, don't be put off employing tradesmen by such blanket condemnation. Just ask around locally for good ones.
And I would look at your excessive workload and prioritise it, plus delegate whatever you can afford to professionals (eg cleaner), and to your DC, who depending on age should be taking a fair share of chores.

Can't paint the hall in case it looks crap? Take a few decent pictures, showing the natural light levels (plus one with hall light on) and post on MN for colour suggestions that look great! Solved in a couple of hours.

@Feelingoood

Also 1angelic, though I’m not in a position to advise!, I did find not being hard on yourself but saying well done! Really helps. So well done! I got the kids fed! Rather than , ooh I only gave them toast and it’s not organic and I’m crap. Sounds daft but it helped me a lot..thanks for reminding me! Hope it might work for you x
Thank you 😊 it’s a balance I think of saying well done and get up and do something!

3 k to sand and paint a window bit more to it that that as you could have it replaced or os it some listed fancy window
Plenty of good tradesmen around but they are usually busy so you have to plan in advance
They charge as they are skilled in their jobs go to college etc to learn trade , pay insurances and huge amounts for tools in order to do their jobs, of course their are bad ones just like every job
Why do people think tradesmen are only worthy of minimal wage

"I also seem to have learnt as a kid that a lot of stuff, if I didn’t do it, it went away. Obviously this is not a helpful view!"

Sometimes, but one of the basic ideas of bullet journalling is that writing your daily or weekly lists helps you question what's really important, and that can often involve dropping some things. I was taught this at work.

There's so much on YouTube about productivity systems but 2 I like are:

(the important bit's in the first 5ish mins)

Oh no my response didn’t post!
Just to say thank you all, such good tips and advice.
growbabygrow I did wonder after I read your post and have found a thread on housework with adhd and it’s me to a tee! Just done a self test online which I’m sure is pants, but I got 70 out of 72! Maybe I’m not stupid and pants after all, this is a revelation. Going to possibly find out how to get tested. I didn’t realise not everyone has an exhausting distracting brain!thank you very much.
And for the u tube links free French hens. They are very useful indeed.
You guys rock!
