Just that really! I can lose weight for a while and then seem to plateau and inevitably fall off the wagon. Or TOTM comes around and I can't seem to stay on plan.

I'm beginning to wonder if I am missing a trick somewhere, what am I getting wrong? When did it finally "click" for you and you got on with actually losing the weight?

Help a woman out, Mumsnet!

(As not to drip feed, I'm early 30s, no particular dietary requirements, gym 2-3 times a week mainly swimming and light resistance training, 5'5 and weigh about 80kg, would like to be closer to 60kg-ish... just in case any of that stuff helps get answers 🤣)

You have to want it. Have a reason. At least that's my experience. And when that clicks, it's possible (not saying it's easy).

My problem is that I don't have a burning reason as to why I should lose the weight. I couldn't definitely do with losing it but that's not enough to make me commit.... 😀

I've gained and lost weight most of my life. What finally clicked at age 38 was that I just need to count calories all the time. Every day. Not just whilst losing weight but also whilst maintaining. I use MyFitnessPal. It's second nature now and not a bother. I also weigh myself everyday.

I lost 3st using Exante, between March and August, maintained since then by keeping an eye on my weight, weighing probably every 2 weeks, and by eating sensibly. I do go to the gym but I did that prior to the 3st loss.

Everyone says these Shake diets are bad but I found it good, the quickish loss kept me motivated. A lot fail because they go back up eating how they did pre diet, but if you don't do that then there's no reason they'd fail.

Weight loss surgery. Ten stone off.

Educated myself.

Never eat anything labelled low fat.

No processed food. Nothing in a packet. If you can't get it in a butchers or fishmongers or greengrocers don't eat it.

Stopped pretending exercise made any real difference to weight.

Eat fewer calories than an online calculator says I need - after being obese your body needs much less.
