recharging your batteries with primary aged kids

Can you ever really have a holiday over Christmas with primary school children? we've got almost two weeks off but it feels like we wont feel any more relaxed or refreshed having done Christmas and been looking after the kids the whole time. Anyone else got any suggestions as to how to relax and actually recharge your batteries with little ones? Or do we just have to write it off till they hit the teenage years?

Only when they are in bed, if I want to be alone alone. Or if they are on playdates but that isn't happening because of covid.

We do go for a lot of walks though, and I get headspace as they run around. Walking with them through streets looking at xmas things or whatever is quite peaceful too, other than dodging traffic

Getting them to make pastry for mince pies, minimal supervision gives me a chance to have a chai tea and day dream.

Or get them to make their own pizza - amazing and simple recipe- 2 pots of greek yoghurt plus fill one pot with selfraising flour 4 times ie ratio 2:4, they then knead, spread out on tin, go mad with toppings, 15 mins in oven, they love it and the pizza tastes great
