Aibu to be on holiday on gcse results day

We’ve really missed going to France and it’s another rainy morning so I’d love to book our summer holiday this morning! With a wedding at home in early august, the best time for us to go is the last 2 weeks of the summer holidays. GCSE results day is 22nd august so there would only be time for 1 week if we wait and go after that. Is it important to be home for this? Obviously we’ll have internet but not sure if there’s lots to do like confirming results for sixth form college of anything? He’s our eldest so we’re new to this!

I generally find in the summer holidays that changeover days tend to be less flexible. For example in SC accommodation in the UK holidays tend to be in 7 day increments, usually with Saturday being the changeover day.

Yes, but you can get packages for 10 days, AirBnB or hotels for any length you like….

I’ve just realised that the big holiday we’ve already booked for my husbands 50th also clashes with my daughters gcse results day…so she’s just going to be viewing them online or having teacher email them to us.

They usually email them these days don't they?

We did. We were away for both my elder children's GCSE results and probably will be for the youngest's this summer.
I wouldn't for A levels as there's far more likelihood of decisions needing to be made regarding next steps. But my children, like 95% or so of their peers were going back to 6th form in the same school so GCSE results day wasn't a big deal really. Unless you've got concerns that your DC might not get the grades needed to get onto the A level courses they've chosen, or they are uncertain and might want to make a last minute switch based on results I wouldn't worry. Just make sure your DC has made robust arrangements for getting the results by email or phone.
