To ask if a cooked joint of gammon can be frozen?

I guess it can but if it was already cooked and bought fresh in the shop, is it ok to freeze as won't be used up soon. When defrosted can we warm back through or will we have to eat cold?

Yes you can. I always freeze meat after cooking, including gammon. Just make sure it's defrosted and reheated thoroughly.

I'd chop it up before freezing tbh.

If you'd cooked it at home, then yes, freezing and re-heating would have been fine.

With a precooked one, you need to check the packaging - it normally says if its not suitable for freezing. Do you still have the packaging? Without that, you really have no idea if its been frozen before or not.

It was from the butchers so assume cooked from fresh?

It will be fine and very unlikely to be previously frozen. If you slice it first and freeze in useable portions you won't have to use the whole thing at once and it will defrost more quickly. Eat it cold or heated up when thoroughly defrosted.

I'd portion it before freezing otherwise you will have the same dilemma when you defrost it.
