I believe it’s called telogen effluvium, struggled with it on and off for about a year now - I don’t think it’s covid related which is apparently a thing, I got covid in July. I think some people have linked it to the pill as well, which I’ve been taking for years now so don’t think it’s that.

I got a full blood count and everything came back normal. I’ve also tried some supplements but not fully committed because they’re expensive - has anyone tried any that they can attest to the efficacy of? I’m a bit desperate now, used to have gorgeous thick hair, didn’t mind at first as it became a little more manageable but now it’s definitely noticeably thinner :(

I had excessive hair shedding after having 2 babies within 12 months. I ended up having it all cut off so it's shaved at the sides and back and about an inch long on top.

It is revolutionary. I'm so much happier now there's not constantly hair in the bed, floors, sofa, and everywhere in between. No more cutting it out of the hoover etc and I never have to worry about washing or drying or even brushing my hair.

A bit drastic possibly, but I'm so much happier with it!

Good luck op, I hope you find something that works for you.

Iron and vitamin D tablets. They're cheap and I swear by them for preventing hair loss - just remember to take them every day!

Iron and biotin tablets

I agree with Buzz about getting your hair cut, doesn't have to be drastic unless you want to. I had the same issue so had mine cut much shorter a few months ago, it feels so liberating and has saved a fortune on shampoo and conditioner as don't need to use so much each wash. I think it can be a stress related issue so not seeing a hairbrush full of shed hair may help. I've heard low vitamin B12 levels can be a problem for some, were those tested for you OP?

I like floradix- iron, more water and eating more greens.

DeepaBeesKit · 27/12/2021 15:43

How old are you OP?

A lot of women experience hair thinning in peri/menopause

Mines been thining since my second pregnancy, so about five and a half years now. Iron tablets helped for a little while but after 8 months the hair loss started up again. I'm going to see a specialist as soon as I can afford to. Would this be an option for you?

I’m following, I’m on ferritin (levels were 13 when tested 10 weeks ago), Perfectil HAIR, vitamin D, marine collagen and a multivitamin! Surely something must work from that lot! I can see a very small number of baby hairs in my parting, but sadly none yet in the areas that are most affected at the front to one side of my parting and temples. So maybe 10 weeks is not long enough.
