Can 'The Pill' make you feel this sick?

Sorry, another Pill one. Posting for traffic.

Had the coil for years but had to have it removed due to pelvic issues unfortunately. I'm now stuck with the pill.

I was given the mini pill that caused large cyst like boils, then a second that caused spots all over my face. I'm on my 3rd pill in the space of 6 weeks (the first one I tried for 3 months before switching).

I've been on Yasmin 4 days and I feel awful. I know the Pill can cause nausea and I experienced the same with the other pills but this is worse. I'm completely lacking in energy to do anything, been feeling very sick and off food (I was sick this evening) and having hot flushes and feel light headed! Sis anyone else feel like this on a new Pill?

You need to do a pregnancy test.

Changing contraception that much, I'd want to rule it out if it was me.

I'm now worried I may be pregnant 😥 obviously nobody knows and I'll need to test at some point but don't want to ruin Xmas. I know The Pill can mimic pregnancy symptoms, so hoping it's that. However my body is very sensitive in early pregnancy and I've honestly known days before my period is due. I feel exactly as I do when pregnant. My lower pelvic area has the same pulling feeling, I feel really sick, breasts started to hurt, weird dreams, breathless (always get this when preg). I'm so, so hoping it's the Pill.

The info leaflet on the pill breaks down the effectiveness if you miss a pill in certain days - iirc it is vital to use other protection at the start of each month if you miss, but near the end it is less likely to change the effectiveness.

I've just started Yasmin yesterday - day 2 (second pill) and not noticed any sickness. Would say less appetite than usual but probs full from Xmas day! I've been taking at night with food to reduce chances of the sickness feeling.

I get hideous sickness in pregnancy so I'm v sensitive to HCG in early pregnancy but not sure how my body will respond to the hormones in Yasmin. Took Microgynon for 9 years and was fine, but haven't been on a pill for about 6 years due to having our kids etc.

Yep. I was so ill on Cileste when I first took the pill, as prescribed by a sadistic bitch of a gp, I believe deliberately, since I was subsequently told it wasn't a pill that should be given as a "first" pill.

It had too high a dose of oestrogen for my body. Within six weeks I was so poorly that whilst a better GP immediately changed my pill, correctly suspecting Cileste was poisoning me, I also had to have blood tests to rule out/check they weren't about to miss leukaemia and hepatitis or anything else that might affect my liver. I was constantly exhausted and nauseated. I took microgynon just fine after that for about 7 years but honestly would never use hormonal bc ever again now.

@Notonthenewrug Have you done a pg test?

Notonthenewrug · 30/12/2021 18:49

@FinallySomeNormality I'm pregnant 😥

Oh yikes. By the emoji, doesn't look like the happiest news? Hope you're ok and have support.

RebeccaCloud9 · 30/12/2021 20:04

I always get the weird dreams too.

Confrontayshunme · 30/12/2021 20:06

I am interested by the other women who vomited every day while taking the pill as I did even with different types and the mini pill for months! My GP made me feel like a total weirdo and that I was exaggerating the side effects.

Notonthenewrug · 30/12/2021 20:14

@RebeccaCloud9 I've not told anyone and I don't want to.
