To defrost food from last Christmas for tomorrow?!

Will I give us all food poisoning? I have some courgette patties made with raw egg, cheese and ricotta that I froze and forgot about. Can I defrost them and serve tomorrow?!

Dear God no
Not even worried about food poisoning they would just be gross.

There is no health risk, you can safely keep food in the freezer forever, but quality does suffer. You might as well cook them and see how they turn out, rather than throwing them out, but maybe have an alternative!

I am boggled at how people think it’s “grim” to eat food from a freezer, an appliance which sole purpose is to preserve the life of food Hmm

As others have said, the quality will have decreased but it’s not going to land you in A&E for fucks sake.

Year old frozen food is grim?! 😑
I wouldn't eat your patties though OP 😬

It'll be perfectly safe but might not taste very nice after that long frozen. We had some stuff last week that had been in about 8 months and it wasn't v nice when we sat down to it. Texture had gone all wrong.

It's fine in terms of safety. Freezing halts food spoiling. Tinning too. Manufacturers have to put a date on both types of food due to regulations but food in a freezer or in a tin won't go off just through time passing.

That said, freezing does mess with texture especially any products containing egg. So I'd experiment with one but wouldn't be too hopeful.
