He turned 3 in October and we started trying this week, it’s been a disaster and he’s regressed a bit too, wants to “be a baby” in his words and he’s very attached to his nappies/pull ups.

He doesn’t seem to have the thing in his head that tells him that he needs a wee or poo, he can tell us after he’s done it, but not before.

We have reward stickers, chocolate buttons, not sure what else to do.

I think there is a massive difference in training a child that wants to and a child that doesn’t care.

Child no.1: tried multiple times and then forced it just before 3. We had a lot of accidents and she really didn’t care at all. It took a long time for her to be reliable. Did lots of bribery, buttons for wees, a horse ride for poos. Was dry at night at 31/2 and it took until then for her to have it sorted.

Child 2: basically trained herself at 21/2. We just gave her a chance one weekend and she did it. Some accidents but very few in comparison to the older one. Am fairly sure she’ll be dry at night by 3 as lots of dry nappies in the morning.

Training child no.2 was a dream compared to the first one.

Just wait until he is ready.
