Watching the above (under duress), and it just leaves me cold; there are so many great Christmas films in comparison.

I agree with others, live action is crap but the animated one is brilliant.

I love the book. The dc's have been asking me to read it every night for the last couple of weeks and I'm not fed up of it yet. Which is saying something!

I really dislike Dr Seuss. The drawings really creep me out and have done since I was quite small.

I can just about handle watching the Bemblywick Cundersack animated version but the Jim Carrey one looked like it had been filmed as a horror film. Really not festive.

(I also cannot watch the Mike Myers Cat in a Hat because it is awful.)

Horrible movie

I agree. My DH is obsessed with the Jim Carrey one, and watches it 3 or 4 times every Christmas. He says it's in his top 5 Christmas films ever. It leaves me cold. Not a fan. It wouldn't even register in my top 40 Christmas films.

Oh yes the Jim Carrey one is terrible. The old and new cartoons though are wonderful. I love the book too.

JC one has some amazing one liners though. It can't compare!
I agree and it's just so tongue in cheek like the scene with car keys in a bowl. Also Christine Baranski is amazing.

The original Dr Seuss from 1966 is wonderful!

My DS 5 has been into Christmas movies and we’ve watched Shrek the Halls a number of times. Now THAT’S one I don’t like. Shrek did nothing wrong. A bunch of people invite themselves round to HIS house on his FIRST Christmas Eve with his kids, (knowing full well he isn’t a sociable party animal type guy) take over everything, ruin all his preparation yet HE’S the bad guy?! Why couldn’t they just invite him round to one of their places and they could host, instead of forcing him into hosting a party he didn’t want! And to pretend it’s under the guise of being good friends/family!

Watching it I realise I’m Christmas Shrek!

I love the animated one, never liked the Jim Carey one. I started watching it once and switched it over half way through.

Love the recent version, it’s one of the few Christmas movies suitable for really young kids.

Don’t like the Dr Seuss books though.
