My friend and I have been lateral flow testing daily for weeks. We both work in healthcare. Both wearing masks and limiting contact with others. Generally being sensible. She was my bubble during lockdowns.
I saw her for dinner in a quiet restaurant on friday. She came back to my house for a chat, as we didn’t want to go to a crowded pub. Distanced and windows open. All within rules and careful.
My friend and I tested yesterday morning. Both negative. I dropped kids presents off yesterday, we had a chat and she gave me hug last night.
This morning she tested positive on a lateral flow. Told me immediately and she booked a PCR which she had today. I also booked a PCR for precaution. Both my lateral flows today are negative. Yes I did 2 to be sure.
So how likely is my PCR to be accurate if she only became positive this morning? I am due to go north to spend Christmas with my elderly parents on Friday, so want to be safe. I will continue to lateral flow daily even if PCR is negative.
So what are the chances of infection and doing a PCR too soon? What are turn around times?
Annoying as being so careful!
